we all deeply admire - for his countless works under a gazillion of pseudonyms - the man domu, known for being a part and burning torch of the west london musicscene (together with 4 hero, bugz in the attic, i.g. culture, alex attias a.o.). it took him 1 week to turn "afraw" into a dry, sweaty dancefloor bomb. duck down and watch out for that dry, rolling juggernaut afrobeat, put-your-lighters-in-the-air basslines and a subtle layer of extra vibe to make any crowd take off to other spheres.

Simon Green aka Bonobo returns with one of the key cuts from his forthcoming album, 'Black Sands'. Drawing as much on the rhythms of two-step as the lush soundscapes for which he’s best known, 'Eyesdown' also features a remarkable vocal from Andreya Triana and enough fuzzed-out sub-bass for a binful of dubsteppers. Classic and contemporary, melancholy and exhilarating all at once, 'Eyesdown' sounds like the kind of record Massive Attack could be making if they were starting out now.

Remix duties are taken care of by Floating Points and Warrior One. Floating Points got his break at London’s renowned CDR Sessions a couple of years back. Since then his re-edits have been picked up and championed by the likes of Gilles P and Joy Orbison. Here, he stretches the original out into a broken ballad, the vocals increasingly disembodied, the keyboards playing robot soul. Warrior One, meanwhile, give it some of their trademark ravement vibrations. Whilst Appleblim & Komonazmu do a dubbed out warm minimal version.

It’s the orignal, though, that will keep drawing the listener back – strange, beatufiul, heartfelt and memorable, 'Eyesdown' is a key staging post in Green’s continuing, remarkable musical development.

Duval Timothy’s Bleep mix is both stylistically varied and aesthetically harmonious. A whole variety of genres are traversed here - in the first handful of tracks alone we find Timothy blending Galcher Lustwerk’s haunted deep-house, Mr. Mitch’s clattering techno-dancehall and Grouper’s astral-plane ambiences, while the rest of the selections take in everything from J Dilla to Coby Sey, Augustus Pablo’s heavy dub to Lyra Pramuk’s avant-garde vocal music. Much like Duval Timothy’s studio output, the London-based artist gracefully joins the dots between these ostensibly disparate musics, lacing his own deft, jazz-flecked compositions throughout the mix in order to provide the listener with further context.
