Ukrainian artist Yuriy Mikhailov (a.k.a. meHiLove) recently showcased the single "4U" on Silk Textures; we're now privileged to feature a wonderful follow-up, "Under The Rain", on Arrival. On remix detail, we enthusiastically welcome back Austrian producer Volant (a.k.a. Blend), as well as American label veteran eleven.five.

The Original Mix begins with a strong groove, with hypnotizing background stabs. Soon thereafter, a well-crafted bassline enters the mix, surrounded by a delightful piano line. The break showcases this piano melody in full effect, while introducing an accompanying sidechained theme lead.

Volant provides us with the first remix. A strong rhythm is quickly established, which is enhanced by numerous intriguing sound effects. A number of arpeggio leads emerge later, and in the break, a lush theme lead is introduced, which plays remarkably well with the piano melody from the original.

eleven.five's remix starts off with an enjoyable rhythm, surrounded by an array of mesmerizing sound effects. The pads spice up the atmosphere and are highlighted later on in the main break, which features several synth leads that coalesce mellifluously.

Citing diverse influences such as The KLF, Prince, the sort of left-field disco played by DJ Harvey and classic house producers like Mr. Fingers, Matthew Wasley aka Human Life produces catchy, potent electronic music with engaging vocals and strong song writing.

Originally from Boston, Human Life now lives in Los Angeles where he met Anabel Englund and the two became fast friends, soaking in the city’s underground warehouse parties together. "El Diablo“ (original version released on Win Music) marks the second collaboration of the pair, the first being their track "Falling“ which was released on Hot Creations in 2013. "El Diablo“ has lyrics influenced by Jim Morrison, harmonies reminiscent of The Beach Boys, and a deep, disco influenced production with an early 90’s touch. 

It was Sean Glass from Win Music NYC who sent the track to Shir Khan. The latter liked the original track so much that they both decided to give it some decent Exploited All Star Remix package. 

Now here are 4 different remixes for the club from Exploited mainstays Adana Twins and Joyce Muniz as well as friends Mia Dora and Hotlane.

Anabel Englund: "My friend Matthew Wasley (aka Human Life) introduced me to music like Jamie Jones, Lee Foss, Kim Ann Foxman, Maya Jane Coles, Adana Twins and it all started from there. For the first time hearing it, I would say it sounded like sex. Good, dirty sex and I was hooked ever since.“

Human Life: "I would make her playlists every week to listen to. Adana Twins’ track "Everyday" was the soundtrack to many a car ride home. It's only fitting that now years later the Adana's have remixed our track "El Diablo“!“

Finally seeing the light of day is Sasha's take on Hot Chip’s “Flutes".  Having been a firm favourite and closing track of many of his recent sets, he twists it in to his classic melodic vibe that only he does so well, taking the original into a new dimension for the clubs and festivals.

Beautiful synth work builds and breaks throughout the track, with tight drum programming keeping the track flowing and taking you on a melodic journey, as only Sasha can do.

With various internationally acclaimed tracks already under his belt in recent months, eleven.five shows no signs of slowing down, as we are excited to present a brand new 2-track EP by the American sensation on our parent imprint. He has been on quite a ride recently: from his "The Way We Were" single to the more recent "Freckles / Echo" EP, both of which were supported on radio by Above & Beyond, as well as many other leading international DJ's. This new EP features his uplifting, peak-hour sound, which has been embraced by progressive house and trance fans alike.

There are two versions of "Pinnacle" available here: an "Intro Mix", featuring the gorgeous main theme at the beginning of the track, as well as the Club Mix, which has already been previewed by Tom Fall on his Silk Royal Showcase 03 mix. The first half of the track centers on a resonant and meaty bassline progression, as moody pads imbue the track with a haunting soundscape. In the first of two extended breaks, we are met by the celestial synth line -- the main theme and truly most memorable riff of the song -- as well as a gorgeous piano instrumental. Later on, in the main break, these themes are joined by the crescendoing bassline, which creates a powerful climax (or should we say "pinnacle"?) to the track.

The B-side is "Turion", which once again features an inspired and infectious lead theme. Although various layers and background melodies spice up the soundscape, the main chord progression is the real "star" of this show, which both reverberates on the dancefloor and evokes a euphoric response in the listener.

eleven.five - Pinnacle (Club Mix) [Silk Digital]

Berlin-based duo Booka Shade, aka Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier, have carved out a reputation as one of the most celebrated electronic acts to come out of Europe over the past two decades. 

With their beginnings in Frankfurt and their sights originally on synth-pop, the duo Booka Shade quickly gained a strong following within electronic music, and in 2002 the pairing formed the now legendary dance label Get Physical Music (together with M.A.N.D.Y., Thomas ‘DJ T.’ Koch and Peter Hayo), where they would have a platform for their own music. 

Three years later, in 2005, their EP’s ‘Mandarine EP’ and ‘Body Language’ - the latter co-produced with M.A.N.D.Y. - launched Booka Shade into the stratosphere with both EPs becoming international successes, whilst the following years soon welcomed an extensive body of work featuring a combination of stand out albums and singles that quickly achieved further global success.

Since their break-through performance at Sónar in 2005, Booka Shade have earned huge recognition with their innovative live shows, even being named one of Resident Advisor's Top 5 live acts in the world in 2010. They have opened for legendary acts such as Depeche Mode and Kraftwerk, whilst headlining stages at the likes of Coachella, Glastonbury, Rock Werchter, and Red Rocks just to name a few. In recent years, the band has appeared amongst the likes of DJ Mag’s ‘Alternative Top 100 DJ List’ (2018), whilst their notable live sets have led to key mentions amongst a host of distinguished festival reviews and round-ups, including placement within DJ Mag’s ’10 Unforgettable Sets From The History Of Exit Festival’.

Booka Shade were also inducted into Pete Tong's BBC Radio 1 Hall of Fame, having received strong support from the station throughout their careers, playing at both the ‘40 Years of Radio 1’ celebration with Annie Nightingale and the ‘20 Years of Essential Mix’ party, whilst also mixing Pete Tong’s ‘All Gone Ibiza’ compilation album. 

The duo’s fan base is in no way restricted to electronic music enthusiasts, with great success playing slots at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Lollapalooza, and more by utilising their massive crossover potential, which is as evident in their billings as it is in their remix credits, including acts like Depeche Mode, Moby, Hot Chip, Kings of Leon, Woodkid, The Knife and many more.

Add to the mix their Blaufield Music imprint, founded in 2013, and it’s clear and easy to see the pairing's musical knowledge not only as producers but also adept A&R’s, with releases to date on the imprint from both emerging and established talent alongside their own productions resulting in a string of releases and collaborations that can be regularly found amongst the upper end of Beatport’s Top 100 charts and championed by many of the industry’s biggest names.

Twenty years, dozens of EP’s and six albums later, Booka Shade have become more than a household name, they have become synonymous with the spirit which drives electronic music and have set a precedent to which electronic music is still held to today.
