MOLLY CROSS BLANCHARD

Molly Cross-Blanchard is a Metis writer from the prairies currently living as a guest on unceded Musqueam territory. 

She has an English BA from The University of Winnipeg and is now a Creative Writing MFA candidate at the University of British Columbia. 

Her work has appeared in Contemporary Verse 2, The Malahat Review, and In/Words. She is currently Circulation Editor at PRISM international.

SARA GRAEFE

Sara Graefe is an award-winning playwright and screenwriter whose work has appeared on CBC-TV and on stages as far afield as Ottawa’s National Arts Centre, Yukon’s Nakai Theatre, Australia’s Sydney Opera House and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. 

She is editor of the groundbreaking new creative nonfiction collection Swelling with Pride: Queer Conception and Adoption Stories, which “came out” last Friday from Dagger Editions at Caitlin Press. 

She lives on unceded traditional Coast Salish territories in East Van, and is on faculty at the Creative Writing Program at UBC

MEGHAN BELL

Meghan Bell is the publisher of Room magazine and one of the co-founders of the Growing Room literary festival. Her writing has appeared in over a dozen Canadian literary journals, including Grain, Prairie Fire, Joyland, The Puritan, The New Quarterly, and the speculative fiction anthology, Tesseracts 21. She lives in Vancouver, where she is currently working on a novel.

ISABELLA WANG

Isabella Wang is a young, emerging Chinese-Canadian writer from Vancouver, B.C. 

Her poetry is published in Room Magazine, Train Journal, and Looseleaf, and she has essays forthcoming in carte blanche, Invisible Blog, and The New Quarterly. 

At 18, she is a two-time finalist and the youngest writer shortlisted for The New Quarterly’s Edna Staebler Essay Contest. 

She is studying English at SFU, co-organizing for Dead Poet Reading series, and serving as the youth advocate for the Federation of BC Writers, while working with Books on the Radio and interning at Room.

LINDSAY WONG

Lindsay Wong holds a BFA in Creative Writing from The University of British Columbia and a MFA in Literary Nonfiction from Columbia University in New York City. 

Wong has been awarded fellowships and residencies at The Kimmel-Harding Nelson Center in Nebraska City, Caldera Arts in Oregon, and The Studios of Key West, among others. Currently, she is writer-in-residence at The John Howard Society and The Community Arts Council of Vancouver. 

The Woo-Woo: How I Survived Ice Hockey, Drug-Raids, Demons, And My Crazy Chinese Family is her debut memoir from Arsenal Pulp Press.

CHELENE KNIGHT

Chelene Knight lives and writes in Vancouver. In addition to being a workshop facilitator, she is also a literary event organizer, host, and seasoned panelist. 

She has been published in various Canadian and American literary magazines, and her work is widely anthologized. Chelene is currently the managing editor at Room magazine, and the 2018 Programming Director for the Growing Room Festival.  

Chelene has been a judge for many writing contests and literary prizes such as the BC Book Prizes. Braided Skin, her first book (Mother Tongue Publishing, March 2015), has given birth to numerous writing projects including her second book, memoir, Dear Current Occupant (BookThug, 2018). Chelene is currently working on a novel set in Vancouver’s Hogan’s Alley. 

Junie is forthcoming with BookThug in 2020.

DANIEL HEATH JUSTICE

Daniel Heath Justice (Cherokee Nation/ᏣᎳᎩᎯ ᎠᏰᎵ) is Professor of First Nations and Indigenous Studies and English at the University of British Columbia, where he also holds the Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Literature and Expressive Culture. 

He is the author of Our Fire Survives the Storm: A Cherokee Literary History (2006), Why Indigenous Literatures Matter (2018), and numerous essays in the field of Indigenous literary studies, as well as co-editor of a number of award-winning critical and creative anthologies and journals, including The Oxford Handbook of Indigenous American Literature (with James H. Cox) Sovereign Erotics: A Collection of Two-Spirit Literature (with Qwo-Li Driskill, Deborah Miranda, and Lisa Tatonetti), and the Indigenous Conversations on Biography special issue of Biography (2017). 

A creative as well as scholarly writer, he is also author of the Indigenous epic fantasy, The Way of Thorn and Thunder, numerous short wonderworks, and the animal cultural histories Badger and the forthcoming Raccoon in the Animal series from Reaktion Books (UK). His current projects include This Hummingbird Heart (a collection of critical and essays on Indigenous writing, wonder, and desire), an anthology on Indigenous responses to settler land privatization policies (co-edited with Jean M. O’Brien), and a new Indigenous steampunk trilogy.
