An experimental narrative based start dropping into House and Techno after 20 minutes. 3 DECK mix. 

This set is a response to Callum McGraths work at the Walls Gallery. After being blown away by his film work and researching its context I spent time talking to old friends, thinking and writing about my experiences as a queer person and activist within the musical history of our people. I wanted to find tracks for this set that would touch everyone from every realm of our community as well as mixing in my favourite Queer dance floor melters that lift the floor and feel aligned with the atmosphere and narrative of Callum's  work. This is a House driven attempt to trans-send the movers from the floor, off planet and into ecstacy via their bodies. Body movement and House being central to the culture and history of our people. 

'Conceived as the second film in my FILM ARCHIVES trilogy, this new video work continues my interest in the re-articulation of history, conceiving the past in new ways that challenge typical forms of historiography. This project reconstructs specifically the history of queer organisations and societies, to consider how conservative politics has perversely shaped their trajectories. The project questions who the future is built for and how the ideological structures that prop it up can be critiqued.' Callum McGrath

This set was recorded live and was part of a number of happenings, there were various announcements made through the mixing desk, rather than re-record the set and lose the vibe of the live mixing I thought to just upload it naturally with some splicing  so forgive a few fills and flanger/filter play. POLLINATOR is an ongoing series of interdisciplinary improvisation sessions curated and produced by Saara Roppola. It is meeting of artists exploring their own practice while embracing cross fertilisation and improvisation- a testing ground and incubator.
Primarily/originally designed with the participants in mind (no audience present), experimental sound artists and musicians, butoh, movement and performance artists, and visual/projection artists come together in a space of serious play, entering a state of response and translation. 
In 2020, POLLINATOR is going virtually live! The live stream offers others a window into the theatre of the shared studio space and artistic processes. A peak into the moments of potency, the absurd abstractions, the humanity and the mundane tasks of art practice.

Boom Boom Bean Selecta is the feline DJ’ing Alter-ego of street artist Leonie Rhodes. They bring decades of international raving experience to the Australian dance floor. Mixing creatively, intuitively, and intellectually, BBBS creates tightly mixed dance floor experiences across 4 decks. Bean Selecta grew up in South East London and was a child of the Jungle movement, they witnessed the birth of Breaks, Dubstep, Drum and Bass, Garage and the culturally transformative power of the House music generation. 

Bean Selecta's sets are laden with heavy bass lines, serious London grit, groove, nostalgia and radical storylines. Their musical and event production work attempts to dissolve the boundaries between performance art and underground rave culture and loosen the performer and audience divide. 
Bean Selecta collaborates with musicians, projection artists, digital painters, graffiti writers, performance artists, Butoh practitioners and contemporary dancers and encourages participation of the audience to try to create experiences of mutual and collective joy.
