‘Global Sounds’ is a unique collection of tracks that connects artists from around the world. With collaboration, experimentation and mixing tempos all at the heart of albums idea, the result is a multi-genre compilation LP; spanning jazz, broken beat and electronic.

The Global Sounds project is an exciting step forward for Boomerang, featuring some excellent artists such as MOBO award nominee Yazmin Lacey, multi-award winning, king of jazz Sir Cleveland Watkiss (MBE), Steam Down and Rudimental affiliated vocalist Afronaut Zu, broken beat pioneer Mark de Clive-Lowe, electronic wizard Steve Spacek, Wah Wah 45s & Albert Favourites head honcho Scrimshire, Afriquoi’s lead singer André Espeut, and a remix of London Afrobeat Collectives ‘Power to the Women’ by Gottwood / Houghton residents Krywald & Farrer. There are also contributions from exciting up and coming artists Bryony Jarman-Pinto, Footshooter, Duke Hugh, Burland & K.O.G.

The first single taken from Onipa's 'Tapes of Utopia' mixtape is 'Chicken No Dey Fly', an infectious afrobeat track about greed and political power. This is the first taste of new material from the afro-futurist collective since their debut album 'We Be No Machine', which drew praise from publications such as Mojo, The Metro and Bandcamp Daily, as well as plenty of attention at BBC 6Music. The single features the unmistakeable rhythms of the late, great and legendary Tony Allen on drums, and a guest appearance from Sheffield hip hop artist Franz Von.

"Tapes of Utopia harks back to a time of African cassette tapes sold on street markets, a reimagination of mixtape culture, blending genres from analogue tones of Afrobeat, Highlife and Soukous to Afrofuturistic rap and electronics. Tapes of Utopia symbolises a time when technology was decentralised, a vision of utopia where humans are liberated by safe technology that benefits the people not the elite."
