HNGVR - Weekends [Rendah Mag Premiere]

The Copenhagen-based artist Muskila is set to release his new EP, "OK, Fatma," on the 4th of March. The EP takes the listener through emotive club music, incorporating North Kurdish timbres and delving into the realms of bassy dubs. Muskila originally had an EP ready in October last year but decided to delete all tracks and write something completely different that was relevant to the world as he experienced it. The EP was written between October and December 2023 and is a product of how the artist sees the world changing. The visuals for the music portray a contemporary dancer, embodying the concept of being stuck, either physically or mentally.

Furthermore, the EP has 2 remixes and 1 collaborative song. The 1st one from Siu Mata, who has made a name for himself on the club scene with his versatility and genre-bending productions. The 2nd remix is from the Nyege Nyege affiliated artist, DJ Travella, who is responsible for the most exhilarating music of recent years, injecting crackling cybernetic energy into singeli in a semi-improvisational style. Lastly the collaborative song is made with, HEDO HYDR8, an artist who emerges from the rave-rich grounds of Denmark to create immersive, transcendental musical experiences.

When we think of the hybrid sounds of jungle, footwork, drum and bass, and hip-hop, the first place that comes to mind isn't necessarily Ireland. However, some of our favorite recent releases in this realm have come from the Emerald Isle, via one of the most exciting labels in the bass music game; Rua Sound, and we're starting to think maybe we should be paying more attention to the Irish. They simply don't miss, and with a label roster sporting legends like TMSV, Sully, Sam Binga, Lewis James, and more, they have the talent to back it up. 

Today's premiere is from the RUA008 "The General" release from London's Touchy Subject. He's been somewhat quiet over the past year, after a couple big releases including a very well-received EP on Fracture's Astrophonica as well as a freshman release on Rua Sound. We're excited to hear him back with another EP on Rua, and we're proud to present the latest single from the release, "Seek and Find." It's a huge ragga-influenced jungley 170bpm dubwise stomper, so make sure you play this one on a big system. Enjoy, and make sure you follow Touchy Subject and Rua Sound! French II dedicated his last 2,5 years crafting his producing skills and Graveyard Shift is going to be his first output as a solo artist. Formerly known for being part of DJs/Producers group BANGANAGANGBANGERS, he spent 7 years specializing in the Bass and Drum & Bass scene, gaining a lot of live experience with over 200 shows.

“Like probably every producer, I made a lot of beats before I was convinced enough to put out my first track. For this new project I am searching for a more mature signature sound, focusing on driving drums and breaks. Graveyard Shift is a dark, 85 BPM stomper Halftime track which fits perfectly in the sets I like to play.”
