Whenever she shares her musical flavors of the week more often then not they strike a chord w/ me which usually compels me to reimagine the supporting sonics.

Strange how serendipitous events can be & how everything happens for a reason. 

I was working on this remix right before Sofia attended summer basketball camp where she met a BOY. 

Funny how everyone & everything else seems to disappear when you meet someone new & intriguing. Crushing. All the novelty chemicals secreting on overdrive! 

Even though innocent, their body language at times gave me mixed feelings.

I realized that this is just the beginning of feeling reluctance in letting go! 

I realized this is as much of a learning experience for me as for her.     

It’s hard to quell the protective instincts that fire as she starts to explore the outside world without her parents. 

It’s hard to accept that inevitably children grow & venture away from you. However that’s the ultimate goal … to foster a mature independence.

Despite my mixed feelings, I understand this uncertainty is a continuous lesson in trust building. 

Trusting I’ll do my best in my role guiding & supporting her adventure into the outside world.

Trusting I’ll find the ever tittering balance between her space to explore & learn from new experiences & my appropriate level of involvement.

Letting go doesn't mean losing love or connection.
Letting go means supporting a journey towards independence & growth.

The movie provides a platform for understanding the intersectionality of different identities women & men shoulder, ultimately it’s about being human, realizing plastic perfection is prison. Coming into your own identity is a unique process.

The movie challenges / highlights biases & stereotypical attitudes. It reminds us the importance of equal opportunity for all roles & that diverse representation & leadership in all fields strengthens our entire society. 

Women & men both face rigidity in social norms. Seek to rethink harmful femininity / masculinity that perpetuate unrealistic expectations precipitating emotional & psychological distress. Self-harm, violence, shootings, ETC. 

Emotional sensitivities as displayed by several characters encourages an examination of stresses & mental well-being. 

Reducing stigmas around seeking help & freely expressing ourselves is vital. 

Work-life balance acknowledges men, like women, should have opportunities to be involved in caregiving / family responsibilities. 

Women & men are both victims of violence & abuse. However their are disproportionalities.  Dismantling toxic gender stereotypes by modeling healthy & respectful behaviors enhances quality of life for all.

This requires involvement of all members of society. We’re all interconnected. Gender dynamics exists on a continuum. It’s never black or white always shades of grey in social sciences. Be a true ally to each other. Create change. Be the rising tide that lifts all boats.
