Balancing  Act was written while the band was working on a picket line for a local grocery union. We weren't hired so much for our activism, as we were for the somewhat scary images that we presented. It was work, and our release Welfare Dub, and this song, which was released a few years later, were the results.

Towers Open Fire is a song that grabs me just as hard today as it did the first time I heard it. No recording does it justice, and there was nothing like witnessing this song live as Robert Porter poured his entire body and soul into it. RIP Mr. Porter. We'll take it from here.

This is from our second release, The Welfare Dub. It includes saxophone from Charles Rosenblum, a long time, part time member of the band. This song has not been released otherwise, and is under represented in our discography.

Flowers of April

This song was originally released on the Welfare Dub Cassette. It is the title track of the remastered EP on iTunes and Amazon under the band name Thin White Line. With the opening lines, "Love and emotion begone. History repeats itself if we wait to long..." it's as pertinent now as it was 20 years ago. Another great Robert Porter song.

Superman and That Girl

This is Bob Porter's signature version of this Otis Redding tune. Many have tried, but few have made it their own the way Bob did. Wheteher ending the set, or ending the evening's performance, this song made it into almost every show's set list. I post this for the anniversary of his birth, to honor his memory and all the birthdays that we shared.

These are songs from the first Thin White Line release back in 1987. Recorded on a 4 track reel to reel with just a few microphones and basic equipment, it's a great example of the punk DIY attitude of the time.

This is a newer version of the song recorded at a professional studio and promptly lost. I found it recently and feel it is a better mix than the original.

Another Day in the Compound Remix

Tin White Line Live and in their prime. No performance was ever perfect, that was the charm. But the power and the pleasure of the music is it's own rewards.

Our best produced video was to this song. Live it was usually a 15+ minute epic jam that kept people on the floor. Good Times.
