Bears in Space Opening for Horse Meat Disco

An ode to the perfect summer day. Those diamond days where there’s nothing else you want to do than to hang out with your friends, lie in the sun and dip in and out of the water. So play it on the beach, at your pool party, on your roadtrip or any other sun drenched setting of choice. 

Expect early 00’s Global Underground Ibiza vibes, 90’s Italian dream house, old and new school progressive and a big Balearic sunset moment to finish it off. Including some hidden gems, some unreleased cuts and some bonafide hits, all tried and tested for SUMMER.

This week’s entry to the Local Selection welcomes Dublin-based DJ, producer and promoter Corcra for the 227th edition of the series. The Float resident swerves through a fine selection of disco-house cuts, setting a lovely precedent of spending quality time with loved ones. Bliss!

Corcra’s sound preference as an artist leans on the groove of disco, funk, soul, and old-school house. He has cracked the code of supplying hours of music that keeps the dance floor filled, spanning decades from old to fresh remixes of classics that partygoers know and love. Not to mention a deep collection of uncommon gems to accompany his esteemed selections. This has resulted in Corcra picking up various slots at some of Ireland’s best festivals which include Electric Picnic, All Together Now and BD while picking up a lucrative support slot for LA LA and Chantel Kavanagh at Index back in September.

His love for booty-shaking music sees him weave through modern disco house, deriving inspiration from acts like Purple Disco Machine, Mousse T, and Horse Meat Disco. While gaining massive influence from his mother’s remarkable taste this has given his sets a sprinkle of 90s and early 2000s club dance tunes setting Corcra even further afield as a standout DJ renowned for his stylistic flavour.

This mix emulates everything great about disco-house, the upbeat and fun-loving selections throughout are ideal for transporting the listener back to great weather and good times with friends with not a care in the world. Corcra lets the music do the talking here and it can be heard in the form of funk and groove throughout. Truly outstanding stuff.

Butter Side Up Records has put together a first-ever remix EP which is due to land in March 2024. It finds Gene On Earth, Garrett David, Huerta, and Driss Bennis aka OCB all adding their own spin to the still standout originals from the album Sweely released here in 2022, and it comes with original artwork from Max Binski.

In his own words: " Riding the energy from @eoindjs's sunrise set through DHC’s mid-morning fun, I felt I had no choice but to start sexy, spicy, and suave. The true beauty of a long set allowed me to expand into all kinds of musical eras of my life, just as I was about to turn 30. From 2015 Ibiza minimal anthems to Brazilian Funk with some fresh unreleased goods in between. The final climax came with an air guitar rockout session to Vengaboys remix of The Cardigans that I'll never forget.   

I really got to enjoy the magic of the Lighthouse and filled me with so much pride for what we’ve created together. Thank you to all the openminded dancers and to our incredible team, who allowed me to fully immerse myself while they ran the show. Forever grateful! " - Mark
