A wise man once said: “Make Italo Disco Great Again”.
His name was Guido Balboa.

From there, Romain FX, after having camped his studio at this Italian’s home for a couple of years in Hong Kong, had an epiphany.
He made a track using this genius tagline on Boots & Legs from Australia and wanted to take this phrase even further. And so this compilation was born.

Scouting unknown and more known talents, Romain would put together a compilation full of cheesy goodness for dance-floor-ready tunes right in time for open-airs this summer of 21 after a long danceless year. For the first volume, A-team guests were asked to partake in the adventure, we have Bijou, Franz Scala, Alberto Melloni, Doctor, Berny, Daniele Monaco & Romain FX.

This mysterious producer’s music does pretty much what it says on the box… Edgier, harder Italo disco!

So we are presented here with an EP strongly influenced by the synthetic arpeggios, plastic cheesy melodies and disco beats of that infamous genre that filled up dance floors in the 80’s, emptied them in the 90’s and had some kind of revival on the tail of electro clash in the mid 00’s. 
Most probably a generational thing… kids exposed to these sounds in their early years all owned a mac computer with some music package by the time they were teenagers and unsurprisingly went back to the sound they heard while growing up.

But kids of that era also grew up with techno, and house, and maybe had a big brother who liked Donna Summer… And this is where it gets interesting.

Where original Italo Disco could feel quite cheesy and drowned in unnecessary sweet melodies and dodgy vocals, Italo Brutalo’s blend of 80’s disco and synth music is much more futuristic and tongue in cheek, thanks to an obvious techno heritage.

Italo Brutalo doesn’t only own a Mac computer, but also a pretty extensive collection of vintage synthesisers and his music is high energy and yes very synthetic, but it’s also filled with a real love of electronic music and its machines and a passion for the futuristic sounds it blasts out. The result is highly addictive and very powerful.

Opener “Velodrome” and second track “Oggi” are firmly anchored in that italo tradition, boasting a strong 80’s synthetic disco backbone and riding a seriously chunky beat, while the vintages synths weave and unravel a sparkly, psyched out web of melodic sequences and arpeggios.

Third track “Systeria”, while still owing a lot to 80’s synth music, has less of a linear groove and is a bouncier, more syncopated number recalling the more techno and club influences of Italo Brutalo… Leading perfectly to EP closer, Club Bizarre remix of that same track. 
The boys from Metz takes the track for a trip to the basement of a haunted house, where everything is darker, more enigmatic and slower, just like in a dream. Rave music for the living dead, Club Bizarre mix is oppressing and sweaty, like the best of their productions.

Velodrome

Martin Duvall is the music alter ego of all-round artist Martin C de Waal from Amsterdam. Bordello A Parigi will release Duvall's first single ‘All Night’ on limited 12" vinyl! The release party will take place at the brand new Canvas penthouse club and terrace the 26th of July in Amsterdam.

Riviera Disco is back with volume 10: the anniversary edition. Starting back in 2014, @BordelloaParigi have been releasing these successful compilations celebrating Italo Disco featuring a wide variety of different artists.

Volume 10 is a 3 LP vinyl release and certainly doesn’t disappoint. One of the highlights for us coming from Noviomagum, the new alter ego of Nijmegen based music producer and DJ Hans Wolters. His track ‘Noka’ a great peak time track for those shared moments of ecstasy on the dance-floor.

"Welcome To Rimini" reissue in cooperation with ZYX Records present:

J.D. Jaber - "Don't Stop Lovin'". This song is original from 1983 published by the legendary label Memory Records, its composer was the great Antonello Gabelli (Cheaps, Duke Lake and Faxe among others) 

This musical theme is considered as one of the great Icons of the Italo Disco and masterpiece of Memory Records in its beginnings.

The voice in this masterful musical work is by Paradiso Gilioli and the arrangements were made by Antonello Gabelli himself, Paradiso Gilioli and the great Stefano Cundari.

This Reissue comes with a remix by the legendary Flemming Dalum and on top a special ZYX Remix by Victor Ark from the label Blanco y Negro Music.
