“Collisions”, the first official EP released by Borden, was recorded and self-produced at Fishbowl Studio (Treviso, Italy) with the help of Matteo Ballarin and Andrea Ghion. Following some live shows and good reviews from italian webzines, two songs have been used in a short film called “Piccola Himalaya”.

“Collisions” contains five songs:

‘Everybody needs some wonder’ is a straight-up confessional piano ballad that reminds of the post-britpop era of Coldplay, Elbow and Travis, but also shows a clear and declared devotion to Damien Rice with a neo-folk approach to guitars and electronic sounds. 

‘Outside’ has a straightforward pop rhythm aiming to explain with simple words how to get out of bad times.

‘Not quite what I was expecting’ is a double-face song: it starts with an acoustic whispered admission (in a love story) and follows with the awareness that, despite reality has changed, things can still move on. The song fades out with a guitar and electric piano solo after a brief spoken section resolves the plot.

‘The hurricane’ is another quite intimate song. It starts with a beatles-style piano intro and grows with strings, distorted guitars and effects on vocals.

‘The prisoner’ closes the EP in a very “radiohead” style. An electronic drum loop dictates the song’s theme (the lack of freedom), along with a gloomy post-industrial arrangement, to eventually result in a superposition of reverse voices, background noises and a distorted bass line that ends the song with a long tail.

“Collisions” is an EP that explain different stages of our life, and each one of them can be described by a song, a word or a poem.

The character of Borden formed during the last few years as the musical project of Federico Bazzo, and was born from the passion of the singer-songwriter folk / pop with references primarily to Damien Rice, virtual mentor and spiritual guide. The name "Borden" comes from a character in the movie "The Prestige", a magician, another childhood passion of the singer.
