Exclusive: Massimiliano Pagliara - Forgotten Secrets

Massimiliano Pagliara's connection to Uncanny Valley seems to be a leased line, however with the third part of Connection Lost the blessed producer continues the series. The intergalactic EP consisting out of four spheric approaches delivers a variety of music for a flamboyant night out there, in the dark, in the club, under the sky. The EP's second take, Forgotten Secrets, is one of these hidden gems that collects the listener with an intriguing and uncompromising (fast) drum work and undeniably irrestistable pads. The latter on the on the one hand support the rattling bass line and on the other hand have a soothing effect yet they are not slowing down the tempo or the vibe of the track but have it primarily expose its full potential through out the track.

EXCLUSIVE: Massimiliano Pagliara - Forgotten Secrets [Uncanny Valley]

A Vehicle Mind is the first is a series of three EPs from San Francisco's Mr Tea, who is making a name for himself as one of the best house producers around today.

J As In Giraffe is an absolute beast. Heads down acid, nailed to the floor 4/4 drums, a warped sample, the track subtly builds to the break when an arp is introduced and the club kicks off big sticks. Make no mistake, this is A-grade peak time DJ dynamite.

Desire is all about Wonder, who brings some heavy sleazy heat to the super-deep beats and production. Synths, subs and tripped out percussion take it big room and late night.

Dreams of Angels is a slice of sublime house music that is probably best played as the morning sun breaks through the club windows as that last rush takes things into the cosmos.

Producer, artist, sound guru and DJ Vinny Villbass hails from Oslo with releases on Eskimo and Trunkfunk. He has also worked with experimental electronic artist Pantha Du Prince and is a versatile performer and musician. Here he works with Sommerfeldt who has previously worked under various aliases on acclaimed labels such as Paper Recordings and Full Pupp. He is an equally prominent figure of the Oslo club circuit and both of these new tracks came together while eating basement fish (fermented trout that's been cooking in a bucket of brine in a basement for two months) in a wood cabin somewhere in the Norwegian mountains during the pandemic of 2021.

Opener 'Back in Time' leans backward in both rhythm and harmony and creates plenty of space for its heavy claps and hypnotic vocal cuts. This alluring and artful groove is perfect for both sunlit beaches and dark clubs alike. As always with this label, it's a track that oozes musicianship and class.

The equally fresh 'Basement Fish' goes even deeper but explores harder energies as disharmonic analog synth mayhem is held together by rhythmic vocals from the ever-amazing Toshybot who was once part of late 90s supergroup Tøyen. It's a rugged groove with tripped-out synth effects designed to bring all new vibes to the dance floor.
