Des raves open air illégales d’Amérique du Sud aux clubs underground d’Europe, la DJ et productrice Whitney Weiss produit des sets qu’elle affûte depuis des années dans les usines et les parcs argentins. Partageant son temps entre Paris et Berlin et jouant régulièrement à New-York, Londres et Milan, elle est résidente au Dalston Superstore (Londres) ainsi que chez Rinse France. Elle a été invité plusieurs fois par Teki Latex pour son show années 90s “Overdrive infinity”, a fait l’ouverture de Roisin Murphy et apparaît lors de soirées comme Buttons à Berlin, PAT à Brooklyn, Dengue Dancing à Buenos Aires ou encore Savage à Londres. Son émission It’s Whitney, Bitch accueille, depuis 2015, des DJs queer et des producteurs du monde entier.

Bside Incoming: Moving Still

The latest instalment of the Bside Podcast comes from a prolific producer of Irish and Saudi heritage, he’s a familiar face on the Dublin scene, and an artist dedicated to the importing, editing, and sharing of music from Arabia. It's Moving Still.

It is always a pleasure to be guided through the most treasured music of such a passionate collector, finding lots of new tracks and interesting tales along the way. Many of his selections have served as inspiration for his own work, which seeks to unearth his roots while stamping his own modern mark on the style with electrifying bass lines and acid tones.

It is little surprise, given his penchant for the exploration of Arabic music, that Moving Still would begin a collaboration with our past guests Dar Disku in 2019 when he released his bass heavy edit of the wedding classic Bas Ismaa Meny and the hugely infectious disco rework of Sidi Mansour.

Our latest guest mix is by producer, songwriter, musician, music critic, and DJ sound pioneer of more than 25 years, Phil Mison a.k.a @cantomamusic. 

Phil began his DJ career at the Milk Bar, London in 1991, before earning a residency at Café del Mar (alongside José Padilla) in the mid-90s. He segued into producing after a decade DJing around the world and touring with bands such as Leftfield. Since then he's remixed big names such as Grace Jones and Badly Drawn Boy, and continues to release great records as Cantoma.

Phil's also released some essential compilation albums, including 'Original Chill Out’ (1995), four volumes of the popular ‘Real Ibiza’ series, 'Originals Volume 6' on the Claremont 56 label (2011), and 'Out Of The Blue' on Leng records (2017).

It's a real honour to have Phil contribute to the series. Enjoy the mix!

Creemos que podemos generar un cambio positivo en nuestra percepción de la realidad cuando concentramos nuestros esfuerzos en consumir aquello que nos hace bien. 

@diegoperrisson fue el encargado de musicalizar nuestra tercera entrega de Soul Cardio.
En plena pandemia nos regaló una selección solo vinilos donde pudimos identificar canciones de Joan Biblioni, Leroy Burgess & Saving Coco, Ned Doheny, Joey Negro y más.
En este mix Diego resalta cada canción por si sola, dejándolas respirar, mezclando de manera paciente, respetuosa y segura estructurando un viaje hacia lo más profundo de su alma.

Our perception of reality is constructed based on what we consume on a daily basis. We are the repetition of the stimuli we consume, we are the architects of our own matrix. Music is an antidote to the over-stimulation produced by constant bombardment of information. It is a moment of tempering and meditation, an exercise to strengthen the soul through a pause, and then create spaces that make us feel better. We believe that we can generate a positive change in our perception of reality when we concentrate our efforts on consuming what is good for us. 

@diegoperrisson was in charge of the music for our third installment of Soul Cardio.
In the middle of the pandemic he gave us a vinyl-only selection where we could identify songs by Joan Biblioni, Leroy Burgess & Saving Coco, Ned Doheny, Joey Negro and more.
In this mix Diego highlights each song on its own, letting them breathe, mixing in a patient, respectful and safe way, structuring a journey to the deepest part of his soul.
