A new set from the ‘Before The Curfew’ series is up on SoundCloud. This set was played by tofudj on 18th of February at Ground Floor. 

tofudj is an artist from Poltava who has long made a name for himself as a fixture of Kyiv’s music scene. One of the pep gaffe label cofounders and Standard Deviation frequent collaborator, he is known for his uncompromising experimental sound, which he effortlessly combines with classic dance rhythms.

The series is updated on a weekly basis with recordings of sets that have been played in our space since the beginning of the russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Tune in and don't forget to support  the Ukrainian army, volunteer organizations and funds, including the ∄ Community Fund which continues to support volunteer initiatives from representatives of our community.

@prequeltapes is Marco Freivogel — a producer, DJ, and live performer who shared his story in the “Sound Mind” issue of Borshch published in 2019. On the 3rd of July, Marco’s latest album Ruin came out on Mannequin Records. In Prequel Tapes’ long-held view, “art should challenge, jar, and provoke. Offering the balance of what’s dark and disturbing to appreciate the beauty and the light.”
 
Prequel Tapes recorded his Borshch mix from his vinyl collection, with the magazine in mind all the time. For Marco, it’s connected to the feeling of the “Intrinsic” track from the new album. The mix is intense and gentle at the same time, it’s to listen to and fall into, repeat again, and discover new refinements each time.

Borshch is a magazine for electronic music on and beyond the dancefloor. Founded in Berlin in 2017, it’s a space to provoke open dialogues and challenge established ideas about making, listening, and dancing to music. Through physical and digital formats, Borshch discusses the artistic, social, and political impact of electronic music on contemporary culture in and outside the club settings. The print edition of the magazine is published biannually.
