Los Angeles-based producer and multi-instrumentalist BOSA (aka Stephan Jacobs) is set to captivate audiences in 2023 with the release of his highly anticipated EP, "CONTRAST". The EP will be released with the same team who brought you the legendary Low End Theory: Alpha Pup Records. With collaborations featuring Red Giant Project, MonsterLuna, and others, the four-track EP showcases BOSA's unique sound and style, which blends elements of underground house music with a future-forward, world-influenced approach.

A key feature of "CONTRAST" is the incorporation of multiple languages into individual tracks, including English, Spanish, French, and Swedish. As BOSA explains, this decision was a deliberate attempt to emphasize that his music is a global project that transcends language barriers and is defined more by the vibe it creates than any particular language or cultural background.

“I wanted to explore themes of cultural identity and highlight the unique, global sound that sets BOSA apart, and celebrate the very cultures that inspire me," says BOSA. 

"Contrast" will be released on March 20th, 2023 on Alpha Pup Records. Fans of underground house music and innovative, genre-defying production are sure to find much to love in BOSA's latest offering.

BOSA -  Live At The W Hollywood - Aug 1st 2021

The intention was to create a hypnotic track with dreamy elements, such as the Santur, which was performed by friend, Afshin Sadeghi aka “ Santurman ''  a second generation Persian artist and a native of Los Angeles.
While in the process of creating the song, we invited Shrii from India to record some ideas for the vocals. 
She has been featured on the previous album, “ Off the Grid “ which brings the synergy of the music up another level, to create a psychic tether with the Santur, grounded to a solid place while the harmonies ride above the driving bass.

Bósa is excited to announce the release of his new single, “POW,” out now on Public Secret. A newer project from a veteran electronic music artist, “POW” could best be described as a mystical amalgamation of vibrant and intoxicating musical flavors. Sounds of the Middle East meet modern electronic music production for the new sonically rich collaborative single “Fly With Me.” Scheduled for release November 10th on High Vibe Records, “Fly With Me” is a result of the uniquely diverse talents of BOSA, Sidecar Tommy (Member of Beats Antique), and DPAK. The thoughtful and dexterous track first came together when BOSA and Sidecar Tommy reunited at the time of the memorial of a beloved friend. Their melancholy and deep emotional state at the time can be experienced in the song’s low-end. A track with many components, DPAK’s lush and ethereal vocals perfectly complement BOSA and Sidecar Tommy’s hypnotic percussion, spellbinding soundscapes, and dexterous bassline. The result is a groovy and enchanting single that is as emotional as it is uplifting. “Fly With Me” is sure to help keep listeners spirits high as they soar into 2023.

Announcing the Wayha Collection, an immersive music visual experience spearheaded by artist and developer Axon Genesis, featuring the tribal house sounds of BOSA (legendary producer Stephan Jacobs) and fashion inspired by style pioneer Roxy Emily Kravitz, (AKA Roxer Tronica). Wayha takes viewers on a fantastic journey following the migratory flight of the Phoenix. Representing the celebration of rebirth and renewal, Wayha explores our deep connection with nature and the cycles that continuously bring life into the world.

As part of the immersive experience, BOSA has strategically chosen to partner with Klezma, a Web3 music launchpad, which provides artists with superfan management tools, to create the first gamified digital collectibles where, based on engagement, collectors may own unique Wayha art, granting them VIP access to BOSA. The Wayha Collection offers 157, one-of-a-kind, digital collectibles. All collectors will be granted access to an intimate launch party that will take place in Los Angeles, California, featuring a live set by BOSA and a screening of Wayha.

All 3D animation and effects for Wayha were created by Axon Genesis in Unity, along with creative direction from BOSA and Kravitz.

-How long have you been creating music?
I've been deeply involved in music creation for about 18 years. While my recent project BOSA showcases a newer sound that represents my current musical direction, I've previously produced music under various aliases such as Stephan Jacobs, Kether, Pizza Party, Bottle Service, and Psychedelic Tractor.. I have been playing music since high school-band. I started out with the Trombone, however that didn't really stick so I moved on to piano which has been part of my daily life for a few decades. 

-What do you use to make your tracks?
When it comes to making my tracks. My go-to software is Ableton Live, which serves as the foundation for my production process. In addition, I incorporate a significant amount of hardware and synths to add depth and character to my sound. I try to record with some of the most unconventional and peculiar instruments I can get my hands on. This eclectic approach allows me to infuse my tracks with a unique and intriguing sonic palette.

-How and when did you first discover Dirtybird? 
My first encounter with Dirtybird was around 2010 when I stumbled upon a remix by Stanton Warriors of Claude VonStroke's "Who's Afraid of Detroit '' in a fabric live mix. Its unique vibe instantly got my attention. Also, a defining moment happened in 2014 at Lightning in a Bottle festival when I had the opportunity to see Claude’s set. The energy and fun-loving atmosphere surrounding the Dirtybird crew left a lasting impression on me. From that moment, I knew I wanted to be a part of this incredible scene, hoping that one day I would have the chance to release music and share the stage with this amazing team, and here I am 10 years later and it's actually happening. Super grateful. 

-Which Dirtybird artist would you want to collaborate with the most?
If I had to choose one Dirtybird artist to collaborate with, it would definitely be Claude VonStroke. His music and approach resonate with me, I’ve watched some of his music production tutorials and I find that we share a similar approach in how we go about things. Claude's expertise as an audiophile and his ability to infuse unique elements into his tracks is on par with my attention to detail. Collaborating with him would be an incredible opportunity to combine our nerdy musical sensibilities.

-If your entire life was a movie, what title would best describe you?
If my entire life were a movie, the title that best describes me would be "The Unbreakable Journey" This title encapsulates my ability to persevere and overcome challenges while juggling multiple responsibilities. Just like standing in the fire, I have learned to keep my focus, work diligently, and pursue my musical aspirations despite the demanding nature of life. Balancing my dedication to music, being a loving parent to my two daughters, and managing other work commitments requires strength, determination, and a burning passion within. 

-What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?
To be honest, some of the most unforgettable concerts I've experienced are the ones I've had the privilege of working on. Over the past decade, I've been heavily involved in developing live shows for some of the biggest artists in the world. It's been an incredible journey, collaborating with the likes of ASAP Rocky, Brockhampton, Kid Laroi, and many others. Being behind the scenes and witnessing the magic of these artists' performances has been truly awe-inspiring. While I've attended countless concerts as part of my work, these experiences have undoubtedly left a lasting impact on me.

When I first heard this track by Cash$tarr, it hit me in a familiar way, kind of like what we did with “Do It Again” for Bigger Than Us, but from a different angle. The original floats around 140 BPM, which doesn’t exactly slide into a house set… so I brought it down to 124, pitched it a half step lower, and gave it that signature BOSA treatment.

This one's unofficial for now—but I’d be down to make it official if I can get my hands on the stems. That said, I still crushed it. Enjoy the ride.

Bosa is another moniker of producer/composer, Stephan Jacobs. While he has always had a great ear for melody and musical production, his productions have certainly evolved a lot since he first released on Muti Music under the name Kether, and then his solo career as Stephan Jacobs and now his BOSA moniker and his project , Bigger Than Us. His music is always reflecting a future forward, world-inspired sound that is a projection of the inner world. Jacobs channels his French-Moroccan heritage and the influences he’s absorbed through his decades long career as an international touring DJ, into a sound that’s truly unique and global.

Long ago, the Ancient Aztecs observed the stars through pond reflections. “Walking In The Stars,” out via Gravitas Recordings, is the celestial creation of Bosa, David Starfire, and AHEE that features vocals from Suenv and pays homage and serves as a connection to the ancient construct. 

Throughout four inventive minutes, a subterfuge of basses and world percussion are employed, woven with a bluesy sentiment and a dash of pop vocals to permeate emotions. At its core, “Walking In The Stars” employs enticing tribal rhythms to escort you on an introspective journey as the drumbeat transports your body abroad to a distant land.

The title Off The Grid is no misnomer as Bósa explores stylistic territory just beyond the confines of house music, delivering us to a place of omni rhythmic harmony that truly feels like the future. Where previous releases served as an exploration of Stephan and Sunev’s collaborative potential, Off The Grid presets Bósa as a fully realized musical entity, weaving transcendental soundscapes through a latticework of visceral organic rhythms. It’s the first full album by the duo, comprised of seven evocative and dance-floor igniting original songs. Off The Grid carries us through a range of emotional and stylistic landscapes, which together evoke an almost palpable sense of Universality.

Ambitious in its execution, each track is its own journey, blending a wide range of ethnic influences and conventional instrumentation with absolutely celestial production. The album kicks off with the track “Electric Blue,” a synthetic siren's song calling us to the shores of beaches yet known. “Batucada” is a flawless fusion of steady beat world rhythm and woofer shaking, urban broken beats that one could call jungle thug. “Melange” is a sultry French vocal-infused, guitar garnished house tune powered by grinding synthetic base. Bósa brings down the tempo for “Prowl,” a churning and sexy steady-beat bass tune featuring haunting vocals and impressively complex flamenco style guitar work. “Torn” is an inspired and completely eclectic tropical house, rock infused gypsy ballad that billows into our ears on a breeze of complete chill. Off The Grid’s penultimate track “Cenote” sounds as its name would imply: a natural tropical pool where people get down and dirty. The album finishes with “Piranha,” a slightly darker, more mood driven endeavor colored with otherworldly vocals and lonely riffs from a wild western slide guitar.
