I create this track using only kontakt 5.
I started from a recording of myself inflating a balloon. the balloon later exploded... 
I imported several portions of the recording in kontakt 5 and heavily processed the to create usable instruments

Maschine Mikro Mk3 - Test 1

yet another experiment with Maschine Mikro mk3, musing some Lute and Theorbo phrases from the library of sonuscore (https://www.sonuscore.com/shop/medieval-phrases-lute-theorbo/)

all the other sounds from maschine library.

i did all this in Maschine software. Still learning... and feeling that it lacks something.
the use of clips/pattern in the song is not the most straightforward but I imagine one should just get accustomed to it.
But i must admit that ideas come up really quick. My problem is to develop the idea and to "go out" from a single pattern! :)

 We went to Australia for our honeymoon in 2013: I will always remember its landscapes and its very primordial nature. The red center, where Uluru emerges from the desert, is a really magic place. There are really no words to describe the colours of the dawn and of the sunset of "the Rock". 
 You are sitting in the bush, with an old Aboriginal tribe. The primeval sound of the didgeridoo, the distinctive rhytm of the emu caller and of the stricks will be the background of the "dreamtime", the legends that tell the origin of the world. The Dreamtime is a place beyond time and space in which the past, present, and future exist wholly as one. 
 I recorded this song almost immediately after we came back from Australia. I spent some weeks in learning the circular brathing on the didgeridoo and I really wanted to fix my memories of the places I visited. For the video shooting I asked the help of my wife... to withstand my music and my crazy experiments was one of the main pillars of our marriage agreement! :D

 In this journey I cannot avoid to make a stop in my own country, Italy. Even if I'm from norther Italy and the tarantella is a typical music from Naples, in the south, I really love this genre, such happy and joyful! This piece is the only one in the serie not originally composed by me: I found an online score from L. Criscuolo and I really enjoyed to learn the part with mandolin. And what could be better than accompany the melody with the tambourine and the castanet? 
 Also, this was the very first video I recorded with my phone and edited with Cyberlink PowerDirector 12. It started the whole idea of shooting myself while playing and recording my instruments in my studio.

 "In viaggio" is an italian phrase that means "on the road" or "travelling". I am very attached to this music, and I made different arrangements of the main melody over the years. How could I choose a best title for a song that represent the deepest idea of my whole project? This journey will bring you abroad, will let your mind travel around the world, and this song exactly expresses this feeling. I composed the main melody while I was on holyday in China with my girlfriend (now my wife) in 2010: this song is dedicated to her and to the first year we spent together. We both love travelling and visiting exotic countries. We really like to be "on the road"! 
 Since the melody was composed in China, it really has a very distinctive "chinese" flavour... and the use of original chinese / far east instruments was the best way to arrange the song.

With this song I wanted to recreate a very "primordial" mood, somewhat inspired by Africa. However, I don't think the music is itself tribal or related to any african tradition. The overall idea was to express some very primitive feel, that would ideally represent the very first sounds and music produced by the first men. 
 It was very easy to decide to put this song as the opener of my project. The ideal link to the early days of mankind represents the very beginning of my musical journey, a journey that will bring you all aroud the world and in distant places, both in space and in time.

Goodbye everyone, see you on Mars in 2021!

...Now that I get your attention, give me some minutes to tell you an incredible story...

In 2021, the European ExoMars mission will land on Mars, in the framework on a collaboration between ESA and the Russian space agency Roscosmos. It will bring the landing platform "Kazachok" and the European rover "Rosalind Franklin" to the surface of the Red Planet, into the Oxia Planum region.

One of the scientific instruments will analyse Mars atmosphere by recording electromagnetic signals and sending them back to Earth. In order to calibrate the instrument, it will first broadcast back an audio test transmission: how did they choose this audio? They made a contest in which anyone could send a recording, then the scientists chose 11 tracks, helped also by an online vote. All these 11 tracks will be stored in a memory device and delivered to Mars, but only one of them will be transmitted back to Earth.

Guess what? I made a song, and it was selected as one of the eleven!!! 
My music will be actually delivered to Mars, how cool is that!?!?!??!

Now, there is an online vote going on to decide which will be transmitted back, and I would need your help to come back home!

This is the idea that led me to play my song:

I think that music is the highest possible form of art that can unite all the people. Everyone can understand music, without need for any translation. I combined instruments I collected from many different countries, to ideally represent everyone on Earth for this project. 
I used instruments from Australia (didgeridoo), India (sitar), Peru (flute and charango), Russia (balalaika), Mexico (tun kuul), China (erhu) Italy (mandolin), Slovakia (Fujarka) an african drum, and an acoustic guitar The ocean waves were recorded by myself in the Maldives sea.
