Brooklyn bred singer/songwriter, actress, essayist and trans activist Nomi Ruiz (Hercules & Love Affair/Jessica 6) teams up with fellow NYC indie imprint KID Recordings to deliver fiery reworks of her sensual 90s era hip hop inspired summer jam “Be Your Girl”.

For the inaugural release, Ruiz taps South African house music producers Arabic Piano and Dr Feel to reinvent the steamy 2nd single from her forthcoming sophomore solo album ‘Hi-Def Femme’ into a stirring late night club seduction.

Amplifying the reflective melancholy and rousing euphoric undertones from the original, the duo brilliantly craft an emotive long player set against a spacious backdrop infused with distinctive soulful amapiano Afro house flavors incorporating warm synths, airy pads, undulating rhythms, wide simmering basslines, shuffling percussion, haunting piano melodies and deep chugging grooves punctuated with Nomi’s tender hypnotic vocals.
