Leavell is keyboardist of The Rolling Stones / Eric Clapton / John Mayer / Train  / Chuck Berry / The Black Crowes, George Harrison and many more. In The Rolling Stones he's also musical director, making the setlists with Mick Jagger.

For Dutch artist and producer Bowe the collaboration with the legendary Leavell, was a dream come true! Leavell is also happy about the collaboration "Excellent song and I am proud to be on it! Let's do more in the future."

De single was al praktisch af en toen kwam het coronavirus. Bowe zat met zijn handen in het haar over wat hij moest doen. Zou een feelgood 'eiland hoppende' single hem wel in dank afgenomen worden in deze tijd? En dan heet het ook nog eens Voel!, wat ook verkeerd opgevat zou kunnen worden.

"Het is maar muziek, het is afleiding en het heeft totaal niets met het coronavirus te maken. Optreden zit er nu niet in, dus even totale focus op muziek uitbrengen. Dit is de eerste van tien nieuwe songs, dus voorlopig hoef ik me nog niet te vervelen!"

Bowe kwam uiteindelijk zelf tot de conclusie: het is maar muziek, het is afleiding en het heeft totaal niets met het coronavirus te maken. Hopelijk maakt het wat mensen blij en dan is het doel bereikt. Daarnaast zijn de komende tijd alle live shows geannuleerd, dus focussen op het uitbrengen van nieuwe muziek leek nog helemaal niet zo'n slechte optie.

Het verhaal achter de single

Bowe nam vorig jaar de single 'Laat me Leven' op met The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. Groot, groter grootst werd het. Nu besloot hij om het over een andere boeg te gooien door alleen in zijn studio alles zelf in te spelen. Aan de ene kant een unieke kans om compromisloos te werken, aan de andere kant een keiharde confrontatie met je eigen beperkingen volgens Bowe.

In het proces raakte Bowe een beetje verstrikt in een web van meer dan 80 audiosporen met koortjes, mandoline, een berg gitaren, samples en synthesizers. Hij besloot met al zijn sporen naar Haarlem af te reizen, waar producer Kevin Patrick de song een knip- en scheerbeurt gaf en meer terugbracht tot de essentie. Bowe besloot ook de elektronische drums grotendeels te vervangen voor echte drums met behulp van de Velpse drummer Florian Hoefnagels.

Bowe was born in 1978 and started playing the piano at a very young age. When he was a teenager, the piano was replaced by a guitar. Because he disliked music lessons he decided to teach himself how to play. To do so, he picked up a guitar from a right handed friend and tried to strum his first chords. For Bowe this didn’t feel right at all, so he simply turned the instrument around and learned how to play upside down. Later he found out that this way of playing has both advantages and disadvantages. He decided to benefit as much as possible from the advantages and take the disadvantages for granted. His playing style has led to a unique approach to writing songs.

Moving through the Night was his debut album which was released in 2009. Most of the songs were written by Bowe, but Ton Snijders and George Konings also contributed to the writing process. Bowe was influenced by a wide variety of artists such as The Rolling Stones and Crowded House. His writing partnership with Ton Snijders led to a pop oriented album with both up-tempo songs and some ballads. Moving through the Night also features George Konings, Charles Nagtzaam, Rens van der Zalm, Florian Hoefnagels, Danny Samar, Katell Xevalier, Willem Mulock and Erik Verhoef. The album was recorded at the Sound Vision Studios in The Netherlands and was produced by George Konings, who has also worked with The Simple Minds.

Nomansland was released in 2013. The album features twelve original tracks which were written by Bowe and his writing companion Ton Snijders and two monoPunk remixes. It’s predecessor ‘Moving through the Night’ got very positive reviews in The Netherlands. Leading radio DJ Frits Spits called it a remarkably good debut and website Musicfrom described it as ‘John Mayer meets The Eagles’.

Nomansland features special guest performances by Sandra St. Victor (The Family Stand and Prince) and Tollak Ollestad (Don Henley, Seal). Also many Dutch artists contributed such as Arnold van Dongen (Ilse DeLange), Jan Kooper (Doe Maar), Florian Hoefnagels, Danny Samar and Thijs van Leer.

The new poprock album was written over de course of the last four years. Some of Bowe’s favorite tracks are Nomansland, Love is getting high and Tired of giving good things up. The record features rock tracks such as World of misery, pop tracks like the Coldplay oriented Lay down this road and ballads like Trouble is all I know and Rainchild.

All tracks were recorded at the Sound Vision Studios in Arnhem. Zlaya Hadzich mastered the album in Amsterdam. The Bowe touring band consists of various combinations of musicians as most members are active in several other projects.

Giel Beelen invited Bowe for his morning show in 2014 where Bowe played 2 songs including the second single Pretty Plain. 

In 2016 Bowe has released the track ‘Relax Relax Relax’ that was used for a commercial on Dutch TV and radio. 

In 2017 the first single ‘Feel the Fire’ was released.
