Another year, another fun-focused, long, car-ride-optimized, tracky, improvised addition to my yearly tradition of making a road trip mix for the drive to Honcho Campout. 

This year things are a bit different as I am actually playing the festival opening slot. Thus, I've conceptually linked this mix by pulling tracks from the same massive playlist I will be djing from at Campout as a connective prologue of sorts (or a proxy if you can't make it or are arriving later than Wednesday a.m.). Recording number three comes from back in early June, when resident DJ Physical Therapy got things going before DJ Lag and Total Freedom turned the place upside down and inside out.

The importance of the opening slot in the arc of a good party is often overlooked but like the pro that he is, the Allergy Season boss veered toward the outer edges of his record collection for tempos, textures and grooves that would set the stage for what was coming afterward.

The result is a warm, thoughtfully strung together mix of soupy digi-dub, street-wise downtempo dnb and sprightly, colorful dancehall. Big love to Daniel for being down with us putting this out and to everyone who comes down early and stays late.
