Australia raised, Berlin based Lebanese-Swiss producer DJ Plead teams up with New Delhi’s Stain on the first track of the EP. The duo serve up a gritty, wobbling industrial dubstep tune perfectly crafted for subterranean spaces and undersea escapades by seahorse. Track two is a broken beat hypnotic head-nodder from London’s Dusty Ohms. It takes the listener on a sideways psychedelic horseback ride that sounds as if it was scored for a Middle Eastern spaghetti western.

Protest music is unadulterated wrath, organised rebellion, it is anger - but it is also love, healing and family. Everything we do at boxout.fm serves to empower, support and lend a voice to communities. Ours, and yours too.

In recent weeks, the skyrocketing violence in Palestine and Israel has claimed the lives of hundreds of innocent people, and wounded and altered the lives of thousands more. Senseless horrors steeped in generations of hate, that the world tells us can never change. We see and hear the bombs and accept that nothing can be done. We observe the open-air prisons in Gaza and the barbaric resettlement of native Palestinians in the West Bank with heavy, broken detachment. Images on screens that feel akin to museum exhibits, hideous figments from the history books, reminders of the worst of humanity's sins. But this really is happening right now, on this earth, as we live and breathe. The ground shakes beneath Palestinian feet as we try not to watch. And a heavy atmosphere of coerced self-censorship continues to take lives. 

The term apartheid has increasingly been used in relation to Israel but usually in a descriptive or comparative, non-legal sense. On April 27th of this year, Human Rights Watch released a thorough 224-page report concluding that Israel's actions are tantamount to apartheid even when interpreted in a strictly legal sense, rising to the standards set by the International Convention on the Suppression and Punishment of the Crime of Apartheid, and the Rome Statutes.

This unimaginable tragedy must end. We must educate ourselves, speak out fearlessly, and collectively pressure the world's powers to end the crimes against humanity once and for all. We stand with the people of Palestine in their right to freedom.

Tune in to our combined broadcast with Radio Alhara this Sunday, Monday and Tuesday this week. On Monday, we will broadcast 12 hours of original contributions from 14 boxout.fm resident hosts.

Tied between influences of found sounds and club music, Planète is the Melbourne based project delivering an intricate and detailed substrate of electronic music. Having operated in the Australian scene for a number of years, Planète has cultivated a foundation and signature for evolving storytelling within his music. With a number of years in hiatus, these previous musical notions have progressed but have not been forgotten as they now possess a message for interpretation rather than reflection.

About the Mix:  
The overall outcome was to achieve a slower, moodier mix which exhibited and conveyed a hazy, dusk/dawn transitory state. The mix was approached by combining many of my own tracks, which is something I haven't really considered exploring, however it felt natural and worked well with many tracks I find highly influential.

Radhapriya marks her arrival to the boxout.fm recordings catalogue with 'Depresent'. As a relentless four of the floor beat and speculative synths keep the song propelling forward, Noni-Mouse employs one of her most characteristic methods: to stretch, sample and abstract the human voice so it transforms into a programmable instrument in and of itself. Myriad variations of her own vocal hooks all fall together in perfect harmony and arrangement like tetris blocks. And just like tetris, 'Depresent' feels methodical and devastating in its execution, as one single, resounding lyric, "Heartbroken from the pressure" is enveloped in a rubbery bassline and dizzying percussive details.

At its core, 'Depresent' is one hell of a dance tune, but it's also a moment of reflection, of introspection, and of acceptance. To know that while the pressure mounts, there can be space for liberation and letting go. Inspired by a recent heartbreak, the song is less of a pity party and more of a celebratory (and slightly melancholic) number to embody the spirit of things ahead. 'Depresent' finds its home on anxious, manic dancefloors and solitary headphone parties alike.

A mere hours-long link up between Mancunian legend Zed Bias and arguably one of India’s most exciting young talents - Stain - has conjured up ‘Delhi Birds’, a wobbling, chasmic bomb to fire up those tired old synapses. Named for the numerous birds that Dave (Zed Bias) heard while eating lunch upon his arrival to India’s capital, ‘Delhi Birds’, while lean in its nature, distillates the tough, urban landscape of this beguiling city into addictive, electrifying pulses. 

There’s an intoxicating funk present all through ‘Delhi Birds’ that will delight dance floor operators across the oceans and leave hordes of punters bouncing off the club walls. You’re advised to proceed with caution.

boxout.fm returns to Magnetic Fields Festival for a second consecutive showcase from the dungeon, featuring boxout.fm residents MadStarBase, MC Soopy, Lush Lata and thegreybox plus a very special guest, JAEL.

Giovanni Jano, better known as JAEL, is a Moluccan recording artist, producer, DJ and vocalist from The Hague, The Netherlands. His passion for music began as he grew up in a household surrounded by Moluccan folk songs, gospel, soul/funk and Japanese funk. JAEL embraced these sounds together with a broad variety of inspiration and combined it into his own signature sound: going from soulful R&B to heavy bass and future beats during his DJ sets but also in his production and songwriting. He has been showcasing his skills in these different genres all over the world.
