These three new tracks combine a roar, sludge, sharp chainsaw and the beat of the drum no better than as in the scream of cynicism towards the whaling fleet on the cover of Drunken Sailor.  There is a slab of guitar & vocals on “Just to hear me scream” and I can’t hear shit in sustain in “Stain”, let it roll on. Not bad a recording made in a shed between roosters crowing and electric fence buzzing.

As our cities grow some native animals are pushed out while others take advantage of the modified environment, To these animals the city and surrounding suburbs are seen as the ‘new wild’: a place with all the habitat elements they need to feed, breed and take shelter.

Animals are only following their instincts and taking advantage of the opportunities available to them.

The global movement of goods and people are directly contributing to the introduction of plants and animals to areas where they do not naturally occur. These species taken to new environments may fail to survive but some thrive and become invasive. EG Humans - Introduced species as Cats, predator that can devastate native animal populations. Cats, hunt and breed in the wild. They are carnivores and exceptional hunters

KEYSTONE

Established 2013 Boxthorn started making sounds as a three-piece garage band soaking up a mess of influences including fauna & flora concepts with a slab of garage, punk, rock & metal.  This produced several verandas, fundraisers, pub shows, recording sessions and some Corona times later we are on to the 2020 release of Boxthorn’s “GET USED TO IT!” Ep.

This time round we have two new cats in the Boxthorn team “Winnie Cuthbertson” & “Lachie Sipthorp”. 

Winnie is drums n vocals, coming from bands such as Winnie Cuthbertson Played in Bond Street Vandals as well as Dëfects. Melbourne 

Lachie’s vocals come from a conservation ranger gig, skating, fine wine and dining with several keep cups.

“GET USED TO IT!” is of 4 tracks;

SMELL MY SHIT- Is all hunting the introduced cunning foxes. 
SPRAYING- Hitting hard on weeds and chemical compounds. 
OVER THE EDGE- Classic 1983 cover of the ‘Wipers’.
KEYSTONE- Are we the keystone species or are the Buster Keaton incompetent Hollywood Keystone cops from 1939.
