It's been three years since Culver City native Justin Daxt Bobbs released a full-length project under his alias The Heart Of Glass. But in his second full-length mixtape, I Wrote This in the Escape of Things, we find Justin returning to long-form releases, using length to establish a new and riveting direction for his music while maintaining his award-winning quality. The lyricism of Glass is stone-cold, divinely calculated to encapsulate nuance and mystery. With production from Grammy-nominated producer Apparattus, his densely weighted drums, luscious synths, and soul-bearing samples help illuminate Glass' verses, painting a vivid tale of growth and development in each stanza. Escape of Things is a bold, jarring, coming-of-age story that reveals the beautifully haunting reality of transitioning from a boy to a man.

The Program is simple:
You take an artpiece, one with defined glory and a presence amongst the people. You analyze it, digest it, understand its purpose and existence...then you deconstruct it. Strip it to its most bare, its necessities. After you've found its core...paint it all over again. Not like the artist before, no. But if you had access to the same tools, the same colors and hues, what would that painting be in your hands? That is the idea that formulated all of my flips, remixes, and edits. I take this concept into every one, each uniquely nurtured. And when I felt it ready for me to compile a body of these canvases, I wanted it to wear a name of similar tonaity in hopes you too can see the restructured canvas in its totality.

A Message From Apparattus: 
These are unforeseen circumstances to have led to the release of my fifth album. But the absolute necessary circumstances to do so. So here I sit, presenting it to you in its entirety. With joy and with gratitude, here is Outtakes Vol. 2. This one is for Africa. 

What’s going on in Africa, specifically Nigeria, has broken me. The outcry to stop the senseless violence is one all too familiar to black people all over the globe. With that being said, I must recognize these cries and act in any way I can to end the nightmares that haunt so many. This album, I release in partnership with Bandcamp during their Friday Revenue Share. 100% of this project’s proceeds will go to the Assata Collective, a mutual aid fund raising money to help queer and transgender Nigerians who have faced abuse and are losing their lives due to the fight against SARS. 

My entire team at ILLA Propper Music Group are determined to lend our voices and platforms to bring awareness to these devastating times across not just Nigeria, but the entirety of Africa. Africa is bleeding.

@arcanamoonofficial once told me to reimagine the songs as if they were my own from scratch. Since, these revises have not been the same...

This record is me trying to capture what overcoming fear sounds like. The soundtrack to the fight or flight response of staring the thing you fear directly in the face. I imagined the multiple descending pieces to juxtapose each other in mood, whether it be the joy and exhilaration of the accomplishment, or the overwhelming realization of what occurred. Clunking elements encapsulating that body freezing, almost nightmarish component. All sitting together in harmonious discord, as Carti intermittently returns you to reality. I hope that you Enjoy, this one is very special to me ❤️
