The second release for Atomic Alert sees False Persona delivering his hard-hitting, explosive electro sound. Although a fresh face, the 21 year old Bournemouth-based producer has been self taught music production and DJing since the age of 13, and after spending years learning how to make different styles of music under a multitude of aliases, his sound as an artist definitely serves as a hybrid of genres.

On the title track Unknown Variable, he combines extra-terrestrial mutating synths and ghostlike pads with an insanely infectious bass line. Similarly, Hive Mind is a deep space club roller constantly buzzing its way through your mind.

The introduction of Brighter Days and By My Side is False Persona's own form of alchemy; reconstructing his usual element of club-ready electro with an expansive sonic landscape of subsonic pressure waves and euphoric pads layered with other-worldly vocal samples and magical glitchy percussion. A nuclear remix of Brighter Days cooked up by Dexorcist, one of the most prominent icons of electro and a dreamy rework of By My Side, Atomic Alert's Nite Fleit presses the button on this diverse weapon of an EP.

Not only is it my first proper EP, but for the longest time I’ve wanted to encapsulate my typical electroey sound alongside the more emotional, floaty side to my productions - some of which I’ve been sat on for months, even years, but hadn’t quite found the right moment for them until now.

Ukrainian DJ, producer and cyberpunk RAAVEL debuts on DJ MELL G’s imprint, JUICY GANG RECORDS. Enter INSECT REPLICANT, a 4-track, broken-beat-meets-electro EP that conveys RAAVEL’s crunchy vibe to a tee. 

‘AYAYAY’ blends a distorted vocal with a nasty synthline and 2-step kickdrums, creating a futuristic sound that only RAAVEL knows how to pen. An EBM-flavoured snythline dominates on ‘BLATZER’ while zappy sound FX cut through the atmosphere—a dirty jam made for a basement rave situation. The title tune ‘INSECT REPLICANT’ is a proper banger. At 144 BPM, an acid bassline, snappy percussion, and staccato synth notes evoke tension, but it still maintains a club-driven feel. The closing tune ‘WAKALAKA’ merges electronica and electro, as a raw drum pattern punctuates each bar and provokes anarchistic energy. One for the die-hard punks of this world.  

Following releases on LAP and mystictrax, INSECT REPLICANT marks another upward step in RAAVEL’s trajectory, with his anomalous sound reflecting the always-evolving aesthetic of JUICY GANG RECORDS.

@davidcastellani presents ‘Requiem EP’ on his new Noetic imprint, including two explosive & hypnotic originals accompanied by a deep remix via boundary pushing producer @etappkyle.

Following a string of stand-out releases featuring revered remixers the EP is armed with a rework from Ukrainian producer Etapp Kyle, and follows the launch of Castellani’s ‘Metanoia’ set via Mixmag.

Opening proceedings is ‘Requiem’. Using syncopated rhythms carried on a thunderous kick, Castellani creates a deep Utopian atmosphere. The dense reverb has a hypnotic element, while metallic swipes
and an elusive saw wave spiking in the background maintains the celestial feeling. Higher frequencies are exerted during the tracks breakdown, intensifying matters before diving back into the hypnosis.

Next up is the fiery rework from Etapp Kyle. Maintaining the main riff and coy saw wave, he shifts the drumwork into a sputtering, punchy affair. Using distortion and changing the octave of the main sample,
the Ukrainian producer pivots the original into an energetic stomper.

Closing out is 'Absentia', a buoyant and cosmic expedition compiled of jagged chord and gated synth rhythms. Hi-hats open & close throughout along with elastic analogue bleeps that evolve and intertwine around the driving drumwork.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH VOL. 4 [Crazed Behaviour]

The 4th instalment of our NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH series contains a stacked lineup of 5 producers who are consistent troublemakers in the underground dance scene.

First up we have Exeter-based DJ & producer K-65, who has been working hard and turning heads after a lot of consistent releases, banger after banger with this guy! He's added a thunderbolt of a track to the series with "Red Room", a raunchy bass electro track that we're sure will hit the clubs hard.

Same O is part of the infamous trio that is Jerry Horny. A Paris-based DJ and producer, Same O has contributed yet another hip shaker! This one is one for all, a classic groove with a subtly dirty bassline, titled "Seduction K-7".

Next up we have our good friend Souci who co-heads the Berlin-based collective, Raiders Records! Taking the Berlin bounce scene by storm, always making their dance floors the place to be! She has really taken her sound design to the next level, from her clean bass rhythms to her energetic techno groove, she comes in hot with her track "Provocative".

Subsism, the 2nd Frenchman on the line-up caught our attention recently and we had to ask him to take part. He brings a different style to the crew with his dark blend of techno and trance. His track titled "Cyborg Conspiracy" is a progressive yet to-the-point track which will constantly keep the dancefloors on their toes.

Unklevon! Most of you guys will probably know him from his debut EP on the brilliant Boyz Noise Records titled "Sharping Shadow" or from his singles on International Chrome and NECHTO Records. If you don't know so then you are about to find out - Unklevon is one we have high hopes for as he brings his classic electro style to the table. He has contributed a banger of a track titled "Meta Synapse".

10 years ago Power Station started in Melbourne, Australia as a weekly Saturday club night that turned into a label releasing music from the residents and friends of the party. Since the pandemic, we have been quietly re-constructing the plant due to the heavy impact of the effects of covid but are ecstatic to announce we are ready to fire up all the cylinders in the station again, this time with clean renewable fusion energy and new music.

To re-boot, we invite Kris Baha back to the station with a dance floor summer ready EP, “Breathe” which almost feels like the next progression after his last solo EP on the label all those years back in 2016 with ‘Mind Your Head’. ‘Breathe’ is a hazy reimagining of the mid 90’s/ early 2000’s y2k dance era while all still retaining Kris’s signature muscle baselines, textural ear candy, laced in euphoric synth lines. Channeling the era, in the lens of now’ using techno kicks, prog trance / 90’s synth lines and EBM influenced bass and sequences, for any fans of 90’s PVC trench coats and speed shades.

‘Mescalin Dreams’ Anyone that has followed the white rabbit knows of mirrored realities so Kris takes a Techno approach to prog trance while still retaining his classic EBM influenced bass line. “Mescalin, the only way to fly”

‘Breathe’, the name sake EP is about taking a moment to actually breathe, deep, into yourself especially in this climate. Hi pitched vocal samples run through out the track that symbolise the madness of the inner dialogue being juxtaposed on to the mantra, 'Breathe, Breathe, Breathe with me" - all fuelled by the hyper bombardment of social media, grabbing, holding your attention....you just need a moment to breathe to find your self.

‘Grains of Time’ is a euphoric summer hitter, a reminder of all the early morning closing moments on the dance floor, lost in ecstasy, lost to the dance floor, lost in the the moment and it whispers, ‘your soul is mine’

‘Bite Me’, is a hi bpm techno trance shell, found in the station years back but re-calibrated with a Chemical Brothers style ebm sequence, biten by techno vampires.

Astropolis festival launches a new label to support the local scene: @domeastropolis. Complementary to @Astropolis_Records, this sublabel will be entirely dedicated to the local scene, following the festival’s open call that selects each year since 2003 around 20 young artists from Western France to perform on its summer edition. Ravy electro, sunrise house, warped club music or hammering techno, it will gather all this beautiful family across all aesthetics and great artists we met from past editions, between emerging talents and cornerstones. Watch it!

The first various EP is a four-track EP from sunrise house to robotic and fast electro, that gathers four brillant producers from the West: Ringard, Théo Muller, A-Sim and Unklevon. A perfect blend between happy dances and peaktime madness for the summer, an eclectic rave taste that embodies Astropolis festival spirit and this creative and boiling scene.

@UnklevonUnklevon is a young French promising producer from Angers, used to perform hardline performances with a high-energy and breaky techno which dives you into the golden age of Belgium and UK’s rave. With two EPs released on Boys Noize records, Unklevon is considered as one of promising industrial techno/electro French newcomer whose tracks are in big name’s radar (Anetha, Manu Le Malin, Perc, Francois X…), leading him to a Boiler Room and France’s finest spots.
Used to deliver bangers, « Planet Robot Choices » is no exception to the rule with this retro-futuristic electro powered by booming drums, synths and robotic vocals.
