Berceuse At Twilight (work in progress)

I have composed a short and simple melody that will be transformed using a process which I am currently calling “melodic and temporal dilation and displacement”. The aim is to “stretch out” a melody by both pitch and duration. The end result will be a sort of nebulous unfolding as pitches and duration expand, with the eventual resolution being the collapsing and reassembling of the original melody. Following in the footsteps of Steve Reich’s phasing music, an unaltered main melody will play continuously underneath the dilation to create interesting harmonies, and to anchor the melodic line throughout the duration.

Dilation One

An old piece that was abandoned and never saw the light of day. A relentless onslaught of "crunchy" chords, fluctuation between duple and additive meter, and shifting tone centers gives voice to a lot of the frustrations I had several years ago that seem to be quite applicable to me these days. I've come back to it with the intentions of possibly arranging it for an ensemble. Though I really like the piano timbre, I don't think it's practical for performance.

Relentless WIP

An attempt at a dramatic waltz. Will be orchestrated in the future.

Brydon Waltz (WIP)

The dotted raindrops darkening the golden fur on your head, seemingly unbeknownst to you. Love, joy, excitement. Unyielding. Resolute. Even in the cold precipitation.

Raindrops On Your Head

The orchestrated version of "Brydon Waltz". The piece has a general frame. Still a lot of work to do, but I'm pretty excited about where the piece is.

Il Valzer di Piuma (WiP)

I have time off so I spent the day writing a battle theme for a nonexistent Final Fantasy game. This piece is heavily informed by Nobuo Uemastu's work on the franchise, and is in the style of the 8 and 16 bit eras.
