Continuing to expand on their sonic world, BPitch Berlin present the ninth iteration of WE ARE NOT ALONE, a 12-track compilation bridging diverse forms and frameworks held together by a genuine love for the underground.

A testament to the breadth of style and genre that keeps BPitch alight, each WE ARE NOT ALONE compilation offers an insight into varying subcultures, and connects the dots between artists across the globe with a shared vision. From acid to industrial, EBM to trance, genre denominations fizzle and make way for a feeling, carving a space for each artist to document their own interpretation of an energy that has sustained the label and event series since its inception.

Kicking things off is UFO Inc. regular DJ Europarking, whose ‘Faze Swapp’ walks the line between playful and unnerving. Drawing on the late ‘90s hard-trance energy, he hones in on his bouncy, immersive production style, setting the tone for what’s to come. Diving into the deep end, BEC lays down a hard, bass-heavy swirl of malfunctioning lasers and tweaky vocals on ‘Tibetan Monks’. Stepping further into the dramatic art, Aida Arko readies some genre-bending, innovative storytelling on ‘May Be Life Maybe Death’.

Berlin-based Sarah Sommers steps up with an all hardware journey of tension-building synths, deep bass and hypnotic percussion. Not letting her foot off the gas, Gabby Diaz follows up with a swarm of brutal kicks and wailing distortions on ‘Bloody Dance’. Leaning further into the groove, ‘A Tear In The Sofa’ by Annē offers a paired-back dose of darkened minimalism.

Detroit-born, Berlin-based maestro DJ T-1000 slides in with expertly layered rhythms and shuffling percussion on ‘Unfeminine Woman’. Also showing some love to the Detroit sound, Byron Alvarado’s offering leans on soulful, lightly-swung techno with melodic inflections and flickers of euphoria. Next up, Ukrainian Omon Breaker lines up an emotive cut of synthwave-influenced trance energy driven by Garden Krist’s glistening vocals.

Kicking off the home run, X-Alox plunges into chaotic acoustics and fast-paced, maximal percussion on ‘Sexy Sexy’. Rebecca Delle Piane’s ‘Ammore’ leads with a powerful kick snare combo, tying the threads between hypnotic and minimal in equal measure. Rounding things off, the inimitable Dr. Rubinstein teams up with Blind Observatory for ‘Express Lane’, a smooth hit of groovy acid landing softly on cloud nine.

Playful as ever, whilst never losing sight of techno’s functional core, WE ARE NOT ALONE pt. 9 is an attempt at documenting a feeling, and a crucial snapshot into some of electronic music’s most exciting voices.

After her absolute masterclass of a set at our ''We Are Not Alone'' 1st of May Weekender earlier this year, we are extremely excited to welcome Newa's contribution to our podcast series! Flawless!

For Newa, when DJing, the emotional guidance she uses to locate the structure of her set is key. She builds something that has all the ingredients of classic techno and at the same time perfectly mirrors its present sound. She explores the low-level end of the bass-spectrum as well as cunningly introducing squelchy acid together with intense melodies. Newa’s techno is direct with an intense presence, yet never forceful or intrusive.

Paranoid London have become synonymous with stripping acid house back down to its basics. Rescuing the sound from smiley faces, rave, and sugary excess. The Colombian artist, currently based in Barcelona, brings over 20 years of unwavering dedication to electronic music and club culture. She remains a recognized standard-bearer, celebrated not only for her productions but also for her DJ sets, where she unfolds her broad, rich, and comprehensive vision of techno with vivacity, never conforming to any conventional sound.

Known for her raw, hypnotic and driving techno, Adriana has released on labels known to nurture this sound, such as Spanish labels PoleGroup and Semantica, as well as Stroboscopic Artefacts, Modularz, and her label, Grey Report.

It is a great pleasure to welcome Crystal Geometry as the latest contributor to our podcast series!

Drawing from Post-Punk, Black Metal and Industrial, French producer and live artist, Maxime Fabre, has risen to acclaim under the Crystal Geometry alias, returning to his roots in the warehouse rave scene of the 90’s and industrial music, fusing Belgian EBM influences with post-modern, modular-engineered Techno. At its core, the project is built around an evolving analog modular synth, accommodated by haunting live vocals and abrasive distortion.
Fabre’s live performances transpire into an all-out assault on the body, marching through dystopian territories, manipulating sounds into menacing frequencies. Equally punishing extended hybrid and DJ sets have given further scope and context to the alias, building weight throughout the global circuit of clubs, warehouses and spaces.

Next up in our podcast series: AADJA, a Newfoundland-born DJ, singer, and producer, whose sound is inspired by nature and her early musical training. After exploring electronic music in Australia, she returned to DJing and production, quickly gaining recognition with her unique blend of ethereal, fast-paced techno. 

AADJA's multifaceted sound is constantly evolving, blending old-school and contemporary elements to create unpredictable and energetic sets. As a key figure in the Canadian techno scene, she has expanded her reach internationally, blurring the lines between acid, trance, and techno with euphoric pads and punchy drums that light up both the studio and dancefloor.

About the mix: 'This one hour mix begins with David Lynch and ends with Objekt. My sets are quite adaptable in terms of energy and direction, I am by no means a purist at all. I like to play whatever feels like a natural expression according to my mood and environment which changes a lot. For this, I really felt like creating a mix that is much deeper, cosmic, and more fluid. Recorded at home in Berlin, this mix includes tracks by Ellen Allien, Sleeparchive, Amotik, Reptant, Marcel, Mike Parker, and plenty more precious gems.'

‘Deep inside my pleasure dome...’
Following an appearance on the 2022 WE ARE NOT ALONE compilation, Berlin via-Toronto resident Callum Magnum presents Pleasure Dome, his debut solo EP on BPitch.
Inspired by time spent as a resident bathhouse DJ at Steamworks Baths in Toronto - as well as his involvement with queer communities at large - Pleasure Dome appeals to a dark, sensual nature, exploring the dynamics of modern sex culture with an almost voyeuristic viewpoint. Drawing upon notions of love that can be emotionally distant but deeply sexual, Callum’s productions here lean into both subtle sonic detailings and maximal effects that speak to all kinds of sensorial response. Guiding the EP are Callum’s own vocals, delivered in a seductive yet detached manner, as if the narrator is both part of and outside the experience.
Opening the proceedings, the title track gently expands from a distant acid loop, driven forward by a tripped out robotic voice over pummelling hammer bass. ‘Seductor’ heightens the tension with a faster, bouncing cut of echoing bells and buoyant percussion. Heading into a more explosive realm, ‘Welcome To Nu Rave’ features euphoric builds that rise and fall over pounding drums. ‘Come to Play’ keeps the peaktime energy rolling with industrial leads and playful lasers. Closing things off is ‘Dangerous Obsession’, a headspin of distorted percussive effects and pitch bending acid spirals; a fitting climax to the EP.
Pleasure Dome reflects on underrepresented aspects of queer culture, documenting the experience of a bathhouse in all of its allures and contradictions.

Regal debuts on BPitch Berlin with one of his rare releases outside his own Involve imprint. His »The Eyes« EP draws heavily on early hardcore and the powerful acid sound that has become the Spain-based producer’s signature style ever since he started making waves in the techno scene in 2012. Over the course of four tracks however, Gabriel Cassina showcases a previously unknown side of his abilities. More versatile, more experimental, and more stylistically diverse, »The Eyes« shows Regal at his most radical. If his past releases were dedicated to updating the sounds of the nineties for the present, his  first offering on Ellen Allien’s label sees him heading straight for the future.
The breakneck title track alone will surprise even the most devoted Regal followers with an entirely di erent sound and style. Eschewing the mighty four-to-four thump that dominates most of his work, »The Eyes« is rhythmically closer to recent pieces like »Double Standard« but still sticks out from Regal’s vast discography. If you’ve ever wondered what an acid-infused early 90s hardcore track would sound like if Regal had produced it, here is your answer. It’s not like Cassina slows down when experimenting; on the contrary, he only picks up speed. »Fire left engine,  fire right engine«, a voice commands at the beginning of the cheekily titled »Overground«, which then immediately launches us into outer space and towards rave ecstasy on a 140+ bpm backbeat.
»I Need You« opens the flip in typical hard-hitting Regal style but throws two elements in the ring that give this track an unusual spin. From beneath the murky, hoover-like chords, a glistening guitar melody slowly rises above the relentless groove. Intensifying more and more, it only serves as a preparation for the emotional turning point near the middle of the track, when a seemingly familiar voice intones the track name with soulful urgency. »I Need You« is an intense and raw piece of techno, both emotionally and sonically speaking. »Stimulus« brings about a welcome change in mood after this overwhelming experience: this is five and a half cathartic minutes of acid techno at its purest, informed by the likes of Cassina’s all-time hero Plastikman or nineties rave legends like Emmanuel Top. The backbeat-driven peak time energy of »Stimulus« offers exactly the kind of dark, cosmic sound that BPitch founder Ellen Allien has been leaning towards as a DJ recently, making it a perfectly  tting closing track for Regal’s first release on the label.
