For their first ever B2B, Mohajer and source:link come together to mark Pride with a sultry, slow-building blend of sexy tech house, old-school grooves and playful summer energy. It’s a mix that channels the start-of-summer feeling - longer days, shorter clothes, and that little spark of joy that makes you feel just a bit more gay inside.

Mohajer brings her trademark blend of freaky percussion, punchy vocals and hypnotic textures - infused with the bold, genre-hopping energy of her Persian roots. Now based in Berlin, she’s known for her high-voltage sets and productions that twist between trance, bass and industrial, holding down residencies at mp3 and appearances at Berghain, FOLD, and Bassiani.

source:link, the solo project of Marine (they/them), adds their own deep sense of tension and sensuality. A resident at Mess in Berlin and Club Are in London, they move with ease through tempo and mood, always chasing emotional impact on the dancefloor. Together, their styles spark something new - intimate, elastic, and full of Pride.

House music carries history. Born from resistance, it was shaped in underground spaces by Queer and BIPOC communities who needed somewhere to let themselves be free from the oppressed world they were living in. Some of my favourite tracks come from the late 80s and 90s, not just because of the production but because of the soul and passion behind them. These were tracks made with heart and purpose and this mix is rooted in that legacy.

The mix opens with a tribute to the AIDS epidemic with an acapella from the Latour “People Are Still Having Sex track followed by a homage to ballroom culture, both were pivotal to the history of dance music and the spaces we find joy in today. I often use samples from queer archives, not just for nostalgia but to  honour those who came before us.

Many of the tracks I chose are deeply personal, tied to special moments with loved ones or flashbacks to being on the dancefloor. I want this mix to be a bridge between generations: a reminder to the younger ones, especially those of us who benefit from the freedoms that were fought for, to educate ourselves on where this culture comes from. The fact that we can do what we do today is not by chance.

While it’s reflective this mix is also a love letter to the future, a reminder that we don’t just chase the future, we carry it with us.

Lunchbox Candy is a space where people of all ages across the queer spectrum come together and celebrate. This Pride, I hope we continue to treat each other with respect and care. Queer people already face enough from the outside world, our community should be a place of love, not harm.

Let’s never forget the importance of queer dancefloors, especially in times like these, they are sacred!
