Ben Purnell grew up in a seaside village in Northern NSW, Australia. Inspired by his favourite childhood bands, BP started writing songs at 12. At 14 he played rhythm guitar in the school rock band. And so the playing and writing passion has continued. At 17 he teamed up with first guitar teacher and friend James Moloney (Now 'The Superlove') to form a band which would later be named CHXSM. Other members were Jacob Mann on drums (Band of Frequencies/The Fumes), Jarrah Griffith on bass (The Mumblers/The Superlove), and Nic Lemits on guitar (Marshall O'Kell). 

CHXSM stayed together 5 years and gigged frequently. Many songs were created of which a few are still played live today. They won 'Accelerator', 'Jam for a grand', and the Southern Cross University Band Competition. 

After CHXSM, Ben and James formed a duo 'LHB'. Two years later a similar duo 'Big Fly' was formed wth Nic Lemits.. 

After finishing a degree and a few years bumming around surfing, fishing, and working, a new band 'Due Wave' was created. Due Wave was predominantly a covers band with a hand-full of originals included. Jarrah and Nic would play at some of the shows. 

BP's first EP 'From The Sun' was released late in 2016. Also playing on the EP is Jacob Mann (Drums), Jarrah Griffith (Bass), and NIc Lemits (Lead Guitar). A mixture of genres appear such as rock, alternative and reggae. 

Ben Purnell continues to write music inspired by his coastal existence and life experiences. He jams and performs regularly with a mixture of musical friends.
