When I was working on this one, I was in a bit of a dark place. Since Sad Machine is already an emotional masterpiece, it was easy to work with the melodies and put my own twist on it. I wanted to incorporate my own emotions but didn't want to completely change the song because it's such a classic. I've always been a huge fan of Porter so I really wanted to take my time with this one and tried to make the end result similar enough to the original.
