Their hopes and dreams were fading
Just like those summer days
They watched the trees turn red and gold
Through that hospital window pane
Their baby boy was dying
Just as his life began
They prayed dear Lord, it's much too soon
For our little man

And when you see the colors changing
You know the time is near
That's the way that God arranged it
The ending of the year

To bring that precious child of His
