We bring you the latest news from the Kenyan coast! Afro7 presents Mombasa Roots… This 5-track EP features the group's synth excavations from the 80s: Karibishe, Mezea Tu (Lele Mama) and Kasha Langu. On the flip side both tracks from their late seventies private disco seven inch, What Is It That You Want and My Everything. Frank the Carvery has inserted new life in all tracks and mastered them loud for dancefloor action! EP comes in super deluxe cardboard jacket made in Thailand with silk screened coastal-inspired artwork made by California resident Steve Roden. This is the first time these tracks are being reissued. Mombasa Roots EP - New Afro7 twelve - preorder now!

Lungile Masitha was the short-lived studio name for renowned SA artist Sello ‘Chicco’ Twala, who played with such iconic bands as Harari and Umoja. However, in the mid 80’s his name was under license to one of the major labels and in an effort for self-expression recorded under the name ‘Lungile Masitha’, here he linked up with long term friend Jimmy Mngwandi to co-write and arrange the two tracks ‘Vuyani’ & ‘Makoti’, both sung in his native Tsongan tongue. Vuyani is an upbeat tune that matches Chicco’s unique vocal style with percolating drums and distorted choruses to incredible effect, while Makoti is a mellower blend of floating keys and choruses sung by local kids in an effort to expose “emerging talent”. Due out Jan 29th, distro through Rushhour.

Onwards, through the darkness and into the great, desolate beyond. Looking backwards he could see the stars, the distant shimmering lights flickering amidst a galaxy one million miles away from the moon. They were climbing to the top of the mountain across the dense, bleak outback of a planet miles away from earth. There was a cold breeze in the air, one of which they had never felt before back at home. It was foggy, harsh and left a bad taste in the mouth as they continued to trudge slowly forwards...

Alliance Upholstery is a great name for a record label. Little more needs to be said than that however we will proceed. Up next on the label is a split EP which is perfectly apt for the last day of winter, a sun kissed affair offering a warmth and insight into the season which lies around the corner. Roy Comanchero's "Moon Hike" is pure bliss.
