Praful's EP release of 2 uplifting dance-floor world-beat remixes, crafted by DJ Kareem Raihani - the original versions were released on the Praful album 'Mirror of the Heart'

The album "Mirror of the Heart", released in 2013, is inspired by the passion, depth and devotion of Sufi, Middle-Eastern and Indian music. The mostly acoustic sound is spiced up with occasional Western (electronic) ingredients. Prafuls trademark instruments Bansuri (Indian Bamboo Flutes) & Sax lead the way, but featured are also many (Eastern) stringed instruments from different cultures and world percussion. An impressive line-up of guest musicians from Turkey, Persia, India and Europe supported Praful to create a rich, colorful world-sound. Praful sings lead vocals on 4 songs, the lyrics being based on English translations of poems by Sufi mystics Rumi, Hafiz and words by Praful himself. Featured guest vocalists on 2 songs each are Pakistani Sufi singer Shahzad Ali Khan and Australian Earth-chantess Peruquois.

I needed to get out of my comfort zone, so I went to Project Gutenberg, clicked through a few bookshelves until I got to classic Science Fiction, and decided to do an unrehearsed, essentially live narration of a story that was published in Astounding Stories of Super Science in 1931.

It's not the greatest story I've ever read (if I'd read it before I narrated it, I wouldn't have chosen it), but it's a fine representative of that era's genre fiction writing. I had some fun doing my best impression of someone reading it in 1931, and I recorded it to share with any of you who are interested in this sort of thing.

Attended Manhattan School of Music, piano performance study with Artur Balsam. Previous teachers were John Heiss, Myron Klempner, and Olga Barabini. 

I choose daily between practicing standard repertoire and composing original piano pieces. I end up doing both and recording whenever possible.
