Accidentally stumbled upon this melody the other night. I think I'll put more of these random piano compositions up. Inspired by my mom.

I will be getting back to more electronic stuff but this is where I'm at right now.

Thought of the melody in the shower and added some beats and atmosphere.


Apricot

It has been a while since I released a mix. I felt a longing to get a new one out but there were some factors that inhibited that desire. I changed my musical tastes from an EDM base to more house and deep house genres; slower BPMs, fewer "drops", and much more emotion. I had three of my mixes taken down due to copyright infringement, which I interpreted as being too mainstream. I kept the hidden gems to myself. I had spent the last year rebuilding my music library with more colors to choose from when I make these mixes. I actually got bored with my previous mixes because I would simply press "SYNC" and set the master BPM to 128; it became too easy and lacked passion.

The main reason that I haven't been able to put a mix up is because I suffer from depression making daily tasks seem impossible. It is something I have struggled with for many years but the last two have been particularly difficult. I channeled a lot of energy to get this new mix out but consider this to be an exploration into my reality.

This mix is different, not only in genre, but in technique. For a majority of the mix, SYNC was turned off. The BPMs range from 80 all the way to 140. This posed a particular challenge jumping between these beats but that's what has been missing, a challenge. I kept with the harmonic mixing but the transition techniques are new and experimental. It will sound different than my other mixes but this was recorded and choreographed all in one take.

The idea of this song was collaborated with a friend of mine.

It was inspired from the Dodge Ram Superbowl commercial and a song from a Lee Burbridge set called Mosaic by David Durango. I love music.

I should also mention this is one of the few songs/melodies I have released that I made from scratch but I plan on doing it a lot more. I spent about a half hour making that synth/bell instrument in the background alone but really enjoyed the challenge.
