A career spent DJing across the globe was the catalyst for Damian Lazarus’s latest project – Damian Lazarus & The Ancient Moons. Masterminded by Lazarus the album brings together a wide assortment of vocalists, collaborators and players from around the world. Taking inspiration from Lazarus's Lazpod series, Get Lost events and Day Zero festival in Mexico, this is music for deserts, jungles and sunrises.

Kicking off in LA, Lazarus was joined at the production controls by James Ford (Simian Mobile Disco, Arctic Monkeys, Florence) as the album moved to London, and then final recording sessions completed in Mexico.

The resulting album, ‘Message From the Other Side’, is a revelation. It runs the gamut from the wonderful Qawwali-flavoured techno of the single ‘Lovers Eyes (Mohe Pi Ki Najariya)’ to the African-tinged house of ‘Sacred Dance of the Demon’ to the dense dark ambient of ‘Inner Core’, and a whole lot else. It’s a truly original piece of music from a DJ-producer always driven by a desire to break new ground and, as importantly, have fun with such adventures

Make no mistake: Deadmau5 is the most iconic figure to emerge in dance
music since Daft Punk. Arguably as big as his DJ peers David Guetta
and Swedish House Mafia (although he swears he's not a DJ), his
power's in the look and the sound rather than a string of
chart-chomping singles. But whereas Daft Punk appear to have
disappeared from full-time music matters, Canadian one-man band Joel
Zimmerman’s rise to the top has been nothing short of startling. But
live shows and making memorable noises of his own is only half the
story. When he’s not nibbling at his own wires, this Mau5 is mixing
music from his peers and peeps. From early remixes for Carl Cox and
Hybrid to more recent reworks for James Talk and Calvin Harris,
Deadmau5 never stops moving. And in the case of ‘I’m Not Alone’, DM5
created a mix that was as big if not bigger than the original number 1
hit. Beginners will discover hard-to-find or oft-missed mixes for
Morgan Page, NuBreed and US house diva Rachel Starr; devotees,
meanwhile, will find shapes and colours they haven’t heard in a half
decade.
