After an early morning drunken escapade from the nightlife of a busy street, to a 20 hour bus journey to faraway Amsterdam, this toe-tapper encapsulates a true story of questionable decision making and self-deprecation from the point of view of somebody who, once sober, simply asks, ''Why do I do this to myself?''

'Amsterdam Alone' is the latest single from Gerard Frain, who takes inspiration from some of the greats of American folk and country music (John Prine/Jim Croce/Joni Mitchell), but with a quintessentially British spin.

His second EP 'Occasional Optimist' releases on the 1st September.

Gerard Frain is a solo multi-instrumentalist songwriter from Doncaster. Crafting melodies and stories into his songs, Frain takes inspiration from the great Folk & Americana storytellers (John Prine, Gordon Lightfoot, Leonard Cohen) with musical nods to to the British Invasion and a bygone era of introspective and self deprecating folk lyricism.
