Breaking Out is the final chapter of Breaking Down or Breaking Out, the long-running DREWBY saga that began in 2020. Across 16 tracks, the album traces a full emotional arc: personal growth, the rise and collapse of relationships—friends, family, lovers—and a clear-eyed reflection on life unfolding against the backdrop of turbulent times.

These songs hold a magnifying glass to love and lust, introspection and acceptance, while occasionally widening the lens outward. Tracks like “Human Soul Pollution” serve as a rallying cry—less preachy manifesto, more uneasy mirror held up to humanity.

The album opens at the end with “Just Let Go,” then slowly works its way toward release, resolution, and renewal, closing on the gentle reset of “Start Again.” Wrapped in glossy synthwave-pop textures, Breaking Out balances candy-coated production with emotionally honest songwriting—melancholy and momentum existing side by side, right where growth usually lives.

"Palo Alto" is the first single taken from Southern Shores' debut LP, Loja, out on Cascine September 2nd. 

Southern Shores are one of Cascine's earliest acts, having helped define the label's windswept aesthetic with two acclaimed releases – the Atlantic EP in 2011, and the New World EP in 2012. 

After taking four years to themselves, Toronto's summer heroes return with Loja, their debut long player. Loja is a reflection on travel and its ability to unlock a larger worldview. Now more than ever, an equally expansive and inclusive vantage point is crucial. The music of Southern Shores has always pulled from a global, but deliberately unspecific, set of reference points – rhythmic music that speaks to producers Jamie and Ben at an intuitive level. 

Loja also represents a focus on what’s natural, a stripping away of everything nonessential to allow the best ideas to develop themselves. This approach is made clear in their creative process about which they share, “producing electronic music, there’s often a danger of being sucked in by the possibilities of our technology – but it's an empty promise in the end. More equipment, more effects, more gadgetry never makes our music better. We started down this dangerous road without realizing it and had to consciously pull ourselves back into the realm of the real. An idea must speak to us from the beginning – it needs to have soul and a voice of its own.”

Loja takes the best of what the Shores have always done well and imbues it with even more finesse and maturity. Focus tracks “Palo Alto” and “Riders” showcase the album’s subtle confidence – above a lush bed of live and electronic percussion drift occasional vocal samples, well-placed horns and piano keys. Initially, the album was going to be released as one long-running track, but at the last minute it was re-sequenced to allow the songs space to shine on their own. The end result is a record that sidesteps grand statements to deliver a listen that’s gentle and transportive.

Loja is set for release September 2 on Southern Shores' longtime label home, Cascine.

Danish duo Shy shy shy back with catchy new single.

The new single by Shy shy shy instinctively sounds both fresh and familiar at first listen. The unison vocals shine through a tight, well composed and richly detailed soundscape created in collaboration with producer Rune Borup (Jacob Bellens, Vinnie Who among others). The vocals immediately spotlight the theme of the song; the young and beautiful people that with their apparent carefree and successful existence leave their surroundings captivated.

Since Astrid Cordes and Simon Kjeldgaard wrote their first song together in 2014, they have continuously delivered hearty melodious indie-pop tunes. They have played numerous clubs and festivals in Denmark and abroad, had massive airplay and released the acclaimed EP (Love Songs, 2015) which was referred to as“Clean pop craftsmanship with charm and an essential sense of appeal...” by leading Danish newspaper “Politiken”.
