2023 marks the expansion of traverse as a label, with the first volume of series “traversée” and an 11-track opus from Qetsy. We’re now back with the second edition of traversée - a space for producers to explore their own versatility. A border-free home for artists to share personal ideas, wherever they are from.

For this second volume, we are welcoming nine artists who, altogether, shape the vision of traverse through its diversity of music and places.

Lia Catreux: "From pressure to insouciance, like from bone to flesh, Gone with the dawn is an ode to hidden nights, where hope, dread, love, pride and all kind of repressed feelings use to reveal themselves the most. There is no unique story in it, only characters acting like they want, amongst 6 shades of Bass, ear splitting fxs, moonstrucks synths and a bit of magic."

Malesa - Sal y Sangre (album coming soon)

Between epic drone, enchanting trip-hop ballads, and club tracks written under the moonlight, @malesa-318443499 release on Comic Sans Records a hybrid and elusive debut album that still remains accessible to all. "Sal y sangre" (Salt and Blood): two alchemical ingredients mirroring love and madness; two crucial elements for crafting a fantastical world, where stone giants, snake tongues, mad dogs and unfaithful feathers meet at the crossroads.

We premiering today the track “Brujas” a subversive rock-infused trip hop track in which humanity is served on a plate to hungry monstrosities. Delicious!

Malesa - Brujas

Parisian label De la... je l'espère presents their next EP 'Decoys' by NYC's No Sir. 'Decoys' explores the ways that internal perception distorts and develops as it navigates the fluid boundaries of the self. The EP’s title invokes the distracting and alluring elements of an incomplete double—an illusion that, upon closer inspection, uncovers something perhaps even deeper than its originating source.  

'Respite' is a breathy half-time closer accented by bursts of frenetic sound and warbling bass, as though the music itself is resisting disintegration.

[Premiere] Weith – Scindat (out on Brainwaves)

ESN FACE A

In a flurry of dreamy electronica driven by peak time dance pressure, Kiritchenko bursts onto PM+ with a sound entirely his own. Andrey Kiritchenko has been an active musician in Ukraine since the early 90s, more commonly found working in electro-acoustic and other such experimental music zones. Of course, this means he approaches techno with a welcome dose of irreverence that leads to some truly original results. 

'Black Heat' has plenty of uptempo thrust to keep the floor on lock, but it's the hyphy stabs zipping across the front of the mix that bring a hysterical party dimension to the track. Meanwhile, the middle distance is shaped out by undulating, wistful pads more commonly found gliding through downtempo headphone fodder. The contrast gives the track a zest strong enough to inject colour into the most monochrome of situations.

'More Vows Untold' continues the maverick delights with a strong line in pitch-bending vocodered stabs and demonic spectres. It's the kind of track that gleefully pokes at the fabric of reality by bending human elements to very mechanical tasks and giving everything a dose of disorientation. Stripped-back enough to be layered in the mix but striking enough to carry itself independently, it's exactly the kind of outsider selection that leaves a trail of shocked ravers scrambling to make sense of the situation.
