Ahead of tomorrows HUGE Semi Final against France at Eurobasket womens 2019 I spoke with Eilidh Simpson about how things were over in Belgrade Serbia. GB have already broken all the records in the book by making it this far and reaching the Semi Final of the tournament this gives them automatic qualification tho the Olympic 2020 qualifiers. Tony Dorsey is one of the Greatest players to ever play in the British Basketball League. From Atlanta Georgia Tony played college ball at North Alabama before turning pro. He landed in the UK in 1994 where he joined Birmingham Bullets. He went on to win 2 MVP awards befor moving to the Manchester Giants where he had 2 of his best seasons. He won the Uniball Trophy, League title and Playoffs over 2 seasons under coach Nick Nurse, now famously the Head Coach of the NBA Champion Toronto Raptors. He also played along side Raptors assistant coach Phil Handy. He also played for Newcastle Eagles, Guilford and Everton as well as spending time in europe. As a neutralised player Tony was also capped by England 15 times. He scored 6000 points in his BBL career and is still regarded by many as the greatest of all time. Dr Mark Robinson was one of the greatest Basketball players ever to play in the BBL. He arrived in England in 1994 as a member of a new look Manchester Giants team that were on the verge of taking the franchise to the big time and the years of arena Basketball in the UK. A graduate of Indiana University where he played under the great Bobby Knight ( and made it to the Mic ;)_ he had a BBL career spanning 8 years where he also played in the championship Sheffield Sharks team along with NBA Brit John Amaechi and also Birmingham Bullets. Mark talks about his arrival to England and his role in the Manchester Giants mid 90s success, The youth development systems for players in the UK, USA and Europe and why US college ball isnt always the best move for a UK player. We talk about the current GB Basketball teams and where the British game goes best. This is a fascinating conversation that Players, coaches and fans need to hear with one of the most knowledgable ex professionals out there.

With the Season so suddenly cut short due to the Corona Virus, players throughout the Basketball world had to end their seasons and head home. This was with very little warning and with a certain feeling of panic as countries began to lockdown. I caught up with Delvin Dickerson who spent the 19/20 season with the Manchester Giants in England. I spoke to him from his home in Houston Texas about a difficult season but also his newly adopted home of Manchester!
