This Pride Month, I reflected a lot on my growth over the past decade or so in terms of my relationship to my identity and sexuality.

This piece musically represents what I would tell my younger self if I could send him any kind of message. This music is meant to invoke a certain messiness that comes as time passes and we grow up, but the piece also carries the reassurance that it is within that mess that the beauty of life lies. And it ends with the promise that while I today am still growing, learning, and changing, at least I can tell that young, scared, queer boy that from where I stand today, I know he is going to be okay. ❤️🏳️‍🌈

April is a hard month for me. It holds several tough anniversaries, but this beautiful song always makes me feel seen when I'm at my saddest, and so as I was listening to it the other day, I was inspired to put my own spin on it.

I heard someone say recently, "The depth of my sadness is the depth of my love." This idea that grief is a symptom of an enduring love that can and will continue on is what was swirling around in my head as I created this.
