Sunset Love

Born and raised in Pumphrey Maryland—one of the earliest communities established by free blacks and emancipated slaves in the country following the Civil War—MisTa_J reigns songs of freedom and life with melodic sounds kindled by the likes of fellow artist such as D’Angelo, Lauryn Hill, Donnie Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, PJ_Morton, and John Legend just to name a few.  During his musical journey MisTa_J has competed in multiple appearances on the Apollo stage, opened for well-known artist like Anthony Hamilton and sang background vocal’s (BGV’s) for a host of local artist in the DC, Maryland, Virginia area.    
As a youth during the 80’s and 90’s of South Baltimore, MisTa_J’s passion for music was an innate reminder of the power that screamed from within.  In the years to follow, life’s experiences began to shape the soul that resonates in every song written or melodic arrangement created/performed.
