Personal words about this song: 
Ashes in Paradise is a song I created to illustrate my perspective on the essence of duality. I tried to tell the story of my personal experience of understanding and accepting the duality of which our entire reality and existence is built on, “Ashes in Paradise” is one of the album’s most vibrant songs. I explore the contrast between darkness and light, destruction and creation, and ultimately - death and rebirth. Discovering that darkness is only where light is absent and fully understanding that and integrating that into my perspective and approach on daily life. I composed these melodies while in a creative flow-state and incorporated intentional elements that could subtly symbolize and remind us of the ancient-ness of our humanity, the organic-ness (which I usually try to stay away from using the word organic loll) but it really is just that. The real -ness. I tried to capture that with my story telling but also allowed for it literally on a sonic level to not be absolutely perfect (which was hard,) but perfectly imperfect. Just as we are. The instruments used were intentional, shakers, the shofar (sound of renewal), similar to the Shell Horn I used in my last single ‘Ceremony’ which derives from Mayan culture but also Hinduism and Buddhism as well - I have always been captivated by the fact that all cultures around the world, religions, denominations, have profound similarities in sacred elements used in ceremonial spaces or during sacred days “holy-day” hence the word “holiday”, the horn being a sound for renewal is just one example, but also,  water. That’s also why I incorporated water as an element in the last single too. Water is sacred in so many religions and cultures. The Ganges river in India, being a place for purification, similar to baptizing, or mikvas. See…Patterns. Truth. Now let’s think about the human voice. No instrument or software or digital synth or even AI can capture the true essence and beauty of the REAL human voice, and sure people can argue that today because there are technologies that are replicating vocal chords and generating sounds and what have you, but in my opinion, it cannot be replicated in its entirety. That’s the realness and the “organic-ness” and raw-ness I was talking about. ‘Ashes in Paradise’ plays homage to the cultural roots of our ancestors who’ve walked this earth before us. We are all of the same race, the human race. We are one. This whole album is weaved with references from so many different cultures around our whole world, with textured, analog soundscapes and deep and powerful intention from my heart to yours. This is my final single I’m sharing before my album comes out in full.

A collaborative rich EP, 8Kays links with Italian pair Glowal for the punchy ‘Matemática’, that brings plenty of eerie minor key vibes to the dancefloor thanks to the vocal contribution from Brasilian singer Abrão. ‘Falling Down’ sees 8Kays team up with the Buenos Aires-based producer and live act Juan Hansen for a captivating slice of electronic prog lit up by Hansen’s memorable vox and delicate strings. Dutch pair Colyn & Beswerda suit up ‘Falling Down’ for a different occasion, adding a tougher backbone, while teasing out all the melodic flourishes to craft a remix that’s functional and stunning in equal doses. Man-of-the moment Chris Avantgarde then ramps up the intensity to eleven adding his own re-rub that’s everything we’ve come to love about the producer: bold, powerful and memorable. 
 
The EP ends with a terrific 8Kays solo cut, the luminescent ‘Lyra’, a dreamy arpeggio-driven gem that closes out the work beautifully.
