When I spend a whole weekend watching countless hours of Marvel's Avengers episodes and movies with my 5 year-old son; then have said 5 year-old son relentlessly re-enact the Avenger's fight scenes on me (translation = him just beating the crap beat out of me); combined with me (somehow) getting to watch a couple of really great football games ... well, that kind of "inspiration" is only going to lead toward a certain type of song creation.

So if you need a tune to get you hyped up and fired up, this one will do it!

Game Face

Inspiration for a song can hit you pretty quick when you see something truly inspiring.  And the inspiration for this song started with Katelyn Ohashi's 10.0 floor routine - was elevated watching her UCLA Gymnastics teammates enthusiastic support for her - and culminated with Katelyn's strength to reject negativity from derogatory people.

This song "Build You Up" is message of support to anyone who has felt ostracized for being unique, or felt defenseless as faceless voices denigrate you from a recreant cloak of anonymity.  But don't let the "noise" define you - Let it refine you.  Let it serve as validation that the only real power in words comes from YOU and the people in your life who build you up - not break you down.

This song "Adrift" is inspired from the opening segment in Avengers Endgame where Tony Stark is stranded in deep space with no hope of returning home.
I wanted to capture that character's conflict of emotions as he is leaving his "messages in a bottle (helmet)" for Pepper.  Man, RDJ really had a great performance in this film!

Adrift

This song was inspired by the Cleveland Browns first playoff win in 25 years.  Which was (is still) PAINFUL for me because I'm a Steelers fan.
But I couldn't help but think about how the city of Cleveland must have felt watching that moment.  It must have been absolutely amazing to experience that as a Brown's fan.  So this song speaks to the courage, dedication, and indomitable spirit it takes to believable in yourself and become unbelievable.

I'm just a songwriter who enjoys taking inspiration and making music out of it.  I'm not concerned with how a song ends up stylistically - but only how it makes me feel as I'm creating it.
