Red Ensign is a whisper on a frayed thread that hangs from a canopy in much the same manner a brick doesn't - or can't. These sounds aren't echoes and they certainly do not wave in the wind, not in one manner nor another. Instead the hums, crackles, pitches, and buzzes slowly wobble into/through/beside, and around one another as they cover, as they smother, as they conceal, as they lay draped across the fractures and fissures of long-ruined forms.

Despair

This is a mix of two duets, one with Michael Lynn (double bass) and Kayla Milmine (sax/voice), which is panned to the left and one with Branko Dzinovic (accordion) and Brian Abbott (guitar), which is panned to the right. Both were performed/recorded independently, and they were mixed together afterwards. These recordings were from Audiopollination 32.3, which took place at The Tranzac on July 30, 2015.

A Woman's Name

Composed in 1998, De l’épaisseur ("From the Thickness")represents Phillipe Leroux's musical reaction to the sudden death of another French contemporary composer, Gérard Grisey. "Thickness" in the title refers to a forceful cluster, which continuously interrupts the flow of the piece, picturing the abrupt end of Grisey's life. Peformers: Rebecca MacLeod (violin), Sebastian Ostertag (cello), Branko Džinović (accordion).

Phillipe Leroux - De l’épaisseur (for violin, cello, and accordion)

Branko Džinović is an accordion artist focused on contemporary repertoire. He holds a Master’s degree from the Anton Bruckner Private University for Music in Linz, Austria, and is currently pursuing a DMA degree at the University of Toronto. He has participated in numerous accordion competitions; records for Radio Belgrade, Radio Austria 1, and the BBC; and tours internationally as a soloist and chamber musician. An avid proponent of avant-garde music, he has shared the stage with improvisers such as Pavel Fajt, Mia Zabelka, and many more. Mr. Džinović also composes in various genres, including soundtracks for two award-winning short films.
