The intro song and self-titled song of the album. This instrumental piece is meant to capture the moment of a sun shower, when it’s raining but the sun is still shining. It symbolically represents the good and bad moments coming together to create something beautiful; the human experience. Each section of the song represents the various intensities of the storm and sets the album’s theme of weather and balance.

The Sunshower (Scratch Take)

Whispering Man is about having an incredible day and conquering your sensation of tiredness. The lyrics depict a beach environment, enjoying the waves and the weather. You go to a concert in the evening and all you want to do is dance. The pre choruses are about being in control of your mental health and feeling good, but “the Whispering Man” is your energy level reminding you that it’s getting late. It’s about ignoring that bodily desire to sleep and wishing the day didn’t have to end.

Whispering Man (Scratch Take)

This song is about my ability to love being burnt to ashes by the relationships of my past. The lyrics place you in the remains of forest fire, but it was you who was set aflame. In the smoke you see the faces of those who have wronged you and can’t escape from the memory. From the ashes however, comes new life and new opportunities to love again. The solo represents the process of creation and the re-blossoming of that love. 
 This is the old key, but I intend to re-record with the same instrumentation and a more recent vocal.

Ashes And Slow Decay (Old Key)

This song is about sinking into an endless ocean in your deepest sadness, there is no bottom. You discover that you just keep sinking and as you do, you contemplate what it is that you’ve lost.

Waters Below (Scratch Take)

This song discusses the kind of romantic love that I aspire for. One that isn’t based in material things and with passion that triumphs even physiological needs and a feeling of warmth that replaces the sun. Unfortunately, finding this kind of connection isn't easy and as a result I'm trapped in the shadows of isolation. I’m screaming inside wondering ‘how long’ it will be before I escape loneliness and if I’ll always be on my own.

How Long (Scratch Take)

This song is about overcoming the fears of leaving home and saving the worrying for when problems arise rather that stressing over what might happen. Trusting yourself enough to know you will be alright and that you’re ready to take that first step. The lyrics were heavily inspired by Samwise Gamgee from Lord of the Rings and his hesitance to leave The Shire. In the end, he chose to move forward and take that first step. Push through, whatever it is that you’re afraid of doing.

Journey Begins (Scratch Take)

This song is a metaphor for running from the things in life that aim to take from you represented by a deer being chased by wolves. The wolves slowly creep forward, but the deer notices and a chase occurs. Eventually the wolves have the deer completely surrounded, but the deer somehow finds the path to escape. When I’m performing and immersed in my songs, I slip into my own escape where nothing can reach me.

Running From The Wolves (Instrumental Version)

This song is about overcoming challenges within your relationship. There were times in the past that I wish I worked harder at some of my connections and I lost the chance of having a potentially happy future. This song is reminder to always try your best to work things through because more often than not, the happy moments will outweigh the troubled times. By the next day, all can be forgiven and you’ll see me next to you when we go to bed the next night.

Bubbles On The Lawn (Scratch Take)

This song is about realizing what my passion is and acknowledging my own potential. For a time, I was very lost individual who was down on himself and couldn’t find a path after failing at so many different things. One day I ‘woke up’ and realized that there was one thing in my life that has always made me happy, music. It’s something I always went back to, always thought about and once I discovered that, I felt fulfilled after feeling empty for so long. Since the day I had this realization, I’ve never looked back and dived deep into the creation of my art.

Finally Awake (Reprise) (Scratch Take)

This song is a collection of all the good advice I’ve received from the people in my life and the lessons I’ve learned in my time. The piano part came to me when reflecting on my aunt Glenda. She passed away from cancer before I had the chance to ever hear her play piano. I sat and imagined what she would have sounded like and this is what came out. My dad says that aunt Glenda could never play as well as I did and that she would have been proud of this song.

The Grass Is Greener (Scratch Take)

This song is about reflecting on a relationship of the past and thinking it was odd that we were together in the first place and specifically a moment between us when we first started dating. I picked her up from a night out and we went for a walk. We ended up lying on the sidewalk, looking up at the stars. It was a such an unusual place to stop and do so, but it was spontaneous and it showed me a pleasant side of her. I think about that moment and compare it to how our relationship ended, and realized that we were very opposite. We were an “odd” pairing, but I’d still look up at the sky and remember what I’ve learned from my experiences with her.

That’s Odd (Scratch Take)

This outro song to the album is about friendship. I used to search for my ‘purpose’ in life until a friend of mine told me that existing brings meaning in itself. You don’t need to search for meaning, you just need to live and anything you choose to do is your reason for being here. This is a song that I dedicate to all my friends who have ever been there for me or given me valuable advice, but after that day the sun had finally come out and the rain had fully stopped. No longer a sun shower, just the sunny sky. I’d found comfort in my existence.

Until The End (Scratch Take)

My music attempts to combine classical/orchestral instrumentation with a modern-pop element. People describe my art as theatrical, emotional, and piano-pop. Artists that I take inspiration from are bands like Muse, Pink Floyd, Mayday Parade, ELP, Hellogoodbye and artists like Billie Joel, Lana Del Rey and Elton John.
