Meditation for Piano/Synthesizer was originally composed as a part of a larger composition for dancers and 6-channel surround sound.  Later I have noticed that formally it can stand on its own quite well and reworked  it for piano/synthesizer.  

Meditation (2010)

Two Pieces for Woodwind Quintet introduce the students to two common classical forms: the fugue and theme and variations. 

The first piece is a 3-voice fugue with clearly identifiable subject and counter-subject.  In order to accommodate all the players of the ensemble, several new melodic lines (derived from the original lines) were added.  

The second piece features a choral and four variations.  In contrast to the traditional harmony and contrapuntal development of the fugue, this piece utilizes more contemporary harmony and development techniques.

Two Pieces (2014)

Renaissance Suite for Brass Quintet introduces young students to musical concepts and features commonly found in late Renaissance, early Baroque  music.

The first movement--the Ricercar--introduces the concept of imitative, polyphonic texture;  the second--the Chorale--the concept of 4-part chorale setting; the third--the Rondeau--the concepts of responsorial, call-and-response, and Renaissance dance music.

On November 2 Molotow Brass Orkester celbrates the release of their second album „asoguet“, which is an intranslatable Swiss German expression meaning something like “Well then”. After more than 100 concerts and a sold out stock of their first, self-titled album “Molotow Brass Orkestar” (2010) the band felt like having to record a new album in spring 2012. As they had all the songs ready anyway, they just said “well then” to themselves and off the went to the studio.

As compared to their first album, their new one shows that the band has gone through quite a development the last two years. Compositions by the trumpet player Gregor Krtschek make up about half of the pieces on “Asoguet”. As on the last album you will find a couple of traditional songs from the Balkans put into the orkestars very own language. Of course you will not have to spare the rather extravagant arrangements, of Swiss Folk Songs done by Reimar Walthert.

The pragmatic title seems to have been set as the program of the whole CD. It can clearly be heard that the band spent quite some time discovering and exploring new paths. In “Gankino Oro” they proof that the Swiss alp horn fits in perfectly into Bulgarian folk music. “Dr Sidi“ – sung by Christian Häni (Halunke) – is their first, non-instrumental song. As usual, this song is accompanied by the catching grooves of Marianne Graber on drums and Molotow’s five indestructible horn blowers with their iron chops. Sometimes you can even perceive some influence of British Club Sound. It is well known that the Chemical Brothers took their famous fiddle hook in “Galvanize” from the Moroccan Folk singer Najat Aâtabou. Molotow adds an additional Swiss Folk song and calls it “Steiner Chilbi – Galvanized”.

The six-piece band from Berne, Switzerland plays a unique style based on ska, klezmer and eastern European gipsy music. The six musicians, all of them with a degree for classical music, play with an amazing precision that somehow they must have taken away from an old Swiss watch-maker living nearby. An incredible energy and irresistible vitality make the mix perfect.
