Paranoid London - Transmission 5

Hot on the heels of Sprechen’s debut release from Damon Jee which found favour amongst names such as Ivan Smagghe, Justin Robertson, Nick Warren, Jacques Renault & Kasper Bjorke comes the follow up from label boss & founder Chris Massey!

The Pink Flamingo EP kicks of with a no frills, straight up powerhouse pumper in the form of “You Are Divine” which tips the hat at the self proclaimed “Filthiest Person Alive”….a big bubbling Hi-Nrg style workout with added keys & cosmic drenched weirdo drum sounds (courtesy of the Emperor Machine) ensures that more than just the top shirt button will be getting undone during this campaign.

This is followed by “Floor To The Four” which takes the jackin baton and goes for gold….cut up & stuttered vocals from a Chicago producer are scattered across a full on 909 workout that leads to a drop where said producer explains the inner workings of certain studio toys….one for the geeks & the freaks….all are invited!

ROTCIV gets busy on remix duty for Floor To The Four and brings all his Berlin based wisdom to the party to deliver a whole much darker affair which belongs in the deepest of darkrooms…the addition of piano lightens the mood whilst still keeping one foot firmly in the mist…lovely stuff.

Last year's '4' album saw Mr. Luke Vibert's first venture as Kerrier District in over a decade. And a successful venture it was at that – with the album becoming into an essential long player, and ranking as one of Bleep's top albums of 2015, Now, to mark Hypercolour's 50th single release, four of electronic music's heavyweights have brought forward three strong reworkings of 4: Ricardo Villalobos & Max Loderbauer, Head High (aka Shed) and RA Best Live Act of 2015, KiNK – whose remix comes up trumps in our eyes.

In his take on album favourite, "Techno Disco", KiNK deploys a spacey synth melody and a Reese-style bassline – transforming it into an energetic peaktime track, with elements not falling sonically far from a UR record.

On March 4th, Montreal recording artist Tiga will release his third album with No Fantasy Required, a masterwork of forward-listening insanity.  To find out more, we went straight to the eloquent horse-owner himself, getting him to open all the way up about the process that has made him a dance music icon for well over a baker’s decade.

“First of all, I never talk about the music itself,” he says from a youth hostel in Calgary. “It’s borderline sacrilegious to talk about the grooves. They have a language all their own, the grooves do. I just birth them and send them out into the world to make others happy. And that’s what makes me happy, and that’s what makes you happy.”

"This was a collaboration with Hudson Mohawke, another kindred spirit I identified and subsequently befriended. We worked on it while waiting for a cab at the airport. The rest of the details are blurry; all I have in my notebook on Hudson for that day is “Young, hip-hop - really good friends.” These kind of limitations are intentional; alone you can deliberate forever. But when you have to make someone else happy, all the personal anxieties go out the airport window and onto some baggage loader. Let him worry about staying current in an ever-evolving dance music landscape.”

Direct from his studio, somewhere in the depths of rural Cornwall, he brings some serious heat to the first release.  “Mark Of Passion” is a stellar slice of face melting, twisted tech-funk whilst “Fantastically Well” is a jazz heavy slugger, the good Lord gets deep into the groove, flipping vocal samples and insane breakdowns for a very individual and unique sounding cut.

Ultramajic kicks off 2016 with a stomping six-track EP from KEENO18. Reggie Johnson is a 23-year-old football star from Atlanta, Georgia. The talented newcomer was inspired to start DJ-ing when he took over a rare vinyl collection from a well-known electro DJ in Detroit. His club ready material follows Truncate's Submission EP released December 2015 which shows the ever-growing momentum of this vibrant neon techno hub. 

With his confident debut KEENO18 strikes the perfect balance between soulful high-octane techno and the more shadowy instrumental cuts. In the delirious off-key Qrtz the young producer flexes his percussive muscle whereas Arcturian's playful piano stabs and the pinball synths of Hutenzo will push the crowd into footwork frenzy. The young artist concludes his EP with That's A Sea Sick Cat where he presents a dizzying blend of icy synths and saw-mill hats. KEENO18 - a charismatic new face at Ultramajic - is bound to craft more mind-blowing 4-to-the-floor in the future.
