After two very successful 12inches on Philpot, we are proud to present the first full-length album from Break SL aka Sebastian Lohse from Dresden! “City Wasteland” comes as a full CD as well as a split in two 12inches (release of part 2 in early autumn), including some tracks that are vinyl-exclusives. Break SL is still quite young, but you can feel that he already defined his own universe of sounds and proper production skills. The first 12inch (City Wasteland Pt.1) starts with the track “My Love is for U” and introduces us to the voice of Syjana, singing a duet with the maestro himself…pure sweetness! Next is “Flyguaric” - a deepest House anthem and an exclusive track for this release. On the flip “Break it” pushes musical boundaries even further, breaking up with 4 to the floor: Funked-up Electro and meandering soundscapes…timeless! …followed and rounded up by the lush playground-atmosphere over beatdown-excursions on “Kids". “Thanks for purchasing a real copy!”

After celebrating the 20th catalogue number with an extensive compilation, Uncanny Valley continues with serious business in the form of Break SL’s long awaited new EP. On “Atlantic Ocean Road” the Uncanny Valley regular returns in top form and with 4 tracks that come across like an acoustic showroom of everything that makes Break SL’s timeless House music so special.

The title track is a perfect example of his sophisticated drumming combined with catchy and dreamy synth work. As the name implies, “Atlantic Ocean Road” feels like the soundtrack to one’s favourite road trip memories. “FM 4 Life” gets alive with jazzy beats, clever sampling and driving yet muddled bass lines.

“Trocadéro” is based on a field recording which Break SL brought home from Paris. Here again, Break SL masterfully combines slightly melancholic vibes with funky rhythmic elements. The record is finished in style with one of those tunes that dancers won’t get out of their head even on their way home from the club. On “Malstrøm", cheerful synths play beautiful melodies over a dark and groovy bass and the jacking drumming is full of ideas that are subtle but essential.

The cover artwork comes courtesy of David Rost from Dresden. With his tape rendering concept he produced a visual analogy to Break SL’s music and the EP’s title. Stay tuned for a video that will document the creation process.

Believe it or not but Uncanny Valley looks back on five years of releasing records this summer. There was a bit of discussion on how to celebrate this occasion properly. Instead of just turning into the typical Greatest hits-routine the label heads Albrecht, Carl, Conrad and Philipp decided to look back and forth. So, besides a record with completely new material there will be a record that unleashes four tracks from the vaults of these five years. As you can imagine, there are lots of tracks that are good too but doesn’t fit on the record in question because of the whole record’s atmosphere or just because there’s not enough space on the vinyl. But it would be a shame if those tunes stay unreleased forever. So, here’s “Uncanny Valley: Five Years On Parole - gems from the vaults”!

Dresden-based label Uncanny Valley has been a purveyor of high quality, forward-thinking releases over the past decade, propped up by a four-piece, or four-man rather, Soundsystem that is just as enterprising when governing dancefloors in various b2/3/4b conjunctions. Since coming together back in 2009, Albrecht Wassersleben, Carl Suspect, Conrad Kaden and Philipp Demankowski have kept their label and DJ quartet in tact, juggling regular lives by day, running everything UV at night, treading the waves of electronic music over the years and always figuring out a way to move forward, together. Whether as Uncanny Valley Soundsystem or as individual artists, Albrecht, Carl, Conrad and Philipp are full of knowledge and ideas, and when asked about clubbing, AI, Dresden, human interaction among other topics, the boys have plenty of interesting things to say.
