Kyoto-born, Berlin-based DJ, producer and artist, Alex Kassian has become a firm favourite of ours over here at Phonica over the past couple of years. His sophisticated, lush and organic sounding productions have been picked up by labels such as Paramida’s Love On The Rocks and Alex Bradley’s Utopia Records in recent years. His most recent release, Leave Your Life, was released in 2021 via Pinchy & Friends, and we can safely say it was one of our most-played, and bestselling, records of the year.

Together with Hiroaki OBA, Alex is also one-half of Opal Sunn, who have been operating their own imprint Planet Sundae since 2017, through which they self-released a number of EPs, catching the attention of and support from dance music luminaries such as Andrew Weatherall and DJ Sprinkles.

London's Moxie (@djmoxie) has always embodied a fearless approach to DJing. Her sets are driven by her famously eclectic taste and can go from deep Detroit techno to face-melting bass via loved-up disco in an instant. She made her name as one of the earliest hosts on NTS Radio but is now a favourite of the global underground who has often impressed at our own events. Her "Moxie Presents" compilations have shown her dedication to championing forward-thinking artists and have helped make her a genuine new school tastemaker.

This week Moxie has put together a breezy jaunt through many different facets of her sound. There are balmy summer pads and carefree house beats to start with then things head indoors for deeper, darker sounds but always saved up with plenty of warmth and emotion. This mix is a perfect encapsulation of how Moxie can take you from the early evening to late into the night without you even noticing.

Arkady Antsyrev produces minimalistic house tunes, combining deep-atmospheric soundscapes that slot perfectly into the sound world of Sublease Music. 

With this release Arkady shares three new tracks that firmly cements his reputation. 

Loud ‘n Proud is  a groovy acid tinged banger with crisp drums and bubbling 303s, underpinning a whispered, atmospheric vocal. 

Troika goes a bit harder, veering towards techno with metallic edges and a relentless groove, balanced nicely with another subtle vocal. 

JT changes things up with a skippy broken beat to start off, before settling into a bass heavy wobbler that will surprise and excite a lot of audiences.
