Fredrik is also the founder of Integrity Action, a London based NGO that monitors corruption and was the head of research for Transparency International, a global anti-corruption coalition that takes measures to prevent criminal activity arising from corruption. Fredrik is now investing the better part of two decades of experience in these areas into running True Footprint, an organization that has a beat on the X factor needed to make sustainability projects work better. Fredrik believes in giving people the tools to not just report problems with development projects but to take ownership of the projects meant to benefit them. This approach is what makes a sustainability effort work reliably successful. On the other hand, when sustainability efforts are going well, it's not unusual for success metrics to include only outputs as opposed to outcomes, which is an important distinction and one that is central to his new organization, True Footprint. This is the difference between reporting on how many condoms were distributed to a community that needed and looking at the drop in disease transmission throughout a distribution campaign. True Footprint is using technology to create a link between top-down efforts like creating whistleblower resources and regulations and bottom-up solutions, like work that focuses on individuals and communities that are most at risk and have the most to gain from sustainability projects.
