John Crump, better known for both his stage names ‘Johnny Crump’ and ‘Break The People’ is a producer, DJ and visual artist from Nottingham (the UK).  Over the last 15 years he has worked with various genres from Turntablism to researching the Sonic Arts and has recently settled on producing and DJ’ing Electronic Dance Music under the stage name ‘Break The People’.

His first EP ‘Broken Tracks and Dirty Music’ was released by Dealmaker Records, he then went on to collaborate on a number of tracks, EPs and albums such as UK Duty Paid, The Departure Lounge, The Scrapbook and The Art of Conflict along with the release of his own EPs ‘Junk Music’ and ‘Disco Crunk’.  

Having received rave reviews in DJ Mag, Knowledge, ATM and Left Lion for his production, Turntable skills and live sets, he went on to headline a Sonic Sound exhibition (Angel Row Gallery), deliver opening showcase sets for the ITF championships, support artists such as The GZA from the Wu Tang Clan, Taskforce, Kid Koala, RJD2, Ugly Duckling, Fingathing, Doc Brown, Phi Life Cypher and many more in prestigious venues across the UK including but certainly not limited to Nottingham’s ‘The Contemporary’, Rock City, Birmingham Ball Rooms along with venues on London’s very own Oxford Street.

He has also received numerous airplays on the BBC as a BBC Introducing Artist, both as ‘Johnny Crump’ and as ‘Break The People’, delivered a set on BBC Radio 1Xtra’s station and exhibited audio/visual works across the UK in public exhibitions, along with showing a collaborative moving image piece as the preview movie for Harmony Korine’s (writer of ‘Kids’ and director of ‘Spring Breakers’) Nottingham debut showing of ‘Trash Humpers’.  

Now focussing on EDM as ‘Break The People’ his self-released debut EP ‘The Rebeccas’ is beginning to pick up momentum having received airplay on the BBC and his second EP ‘For Those That Hate Them’ is due for release late summer, with a third EP already well in motion.
