After hearing Alex play out at @ornate-music’s Quadra EP Release Party alongside @milesatmospheric and James Thomson In February 2020 just before the lockdown we were hooked. Based in Brighton, Alex fell in love with techno from seeing the likes of Derrick May and Dave Clarke at the Zap Club in the early nineties, and his regular pilgrimages to London’s Lost parties were an inspiration, where Jeff Mills became a massive influence on his musical perspective.

Alex Downey has been an ardent supporter of quality underground music and a prominent purveyor of all things electronic as a DJ, vinyl pusher, and radio presenter for well over two decades.

Alex has been a resident at the celebrated Freerotation Festival from it’s inception. He’s DJed at such diverse events as Wiggle, Split, Fabric, Labyrinth Festival in Japan, The Big-Beat Boutique, The Essential Festival and continues to play the best parties.
Hhis broad taste and consummate selection skills can be heard on his ‘Voyage De Lux’ radio shows, on Brighton’s 1BTN FM every month on the 4th Wednesday night.

Bio :
Born in the Bahamas, 25% French American citizen has been mixing and scratching since 1997. Known for proper electro, he produces tracks, and runs the Kraftjerkz label played by DJs such as I-F, Helena Hauff, Danny Daze, Nina Kraviz, Solvent etc. He has had releases on Lost Soul Enterprises, Basement Floor, Hip Hop Slam, and La La Land. He is also touring turntablist for funk group, Tom Tom Club touring in such places as North America, Japan, UK, and Western Europe. His name has shared the credits with DJ Qbert, Shortkut, and DJ Quest on multiple compilations released by Bay Area label, Hip Hop Slam. He has also collaborated multiple times with Detroit's technobass pioneer, DJ Di'jital. In 1999 he produced an electrofunk megamix cassette distributed by Turntablelab and the famous Fat Beats NYC. The I Love Acid label and its parties are shaking up the London nights not based only on acid house and the abuse of the 303 in general but also covering a wide range of old-school styles and sounds like bleep, rave or breaks. The same thing that excites the Polybius Trax boys. Solid Steel (26th October) In Hour 1 we welcome Bambounou, a key figure in the Parisian scene, has gained his position from his genre bending and jubilant electronic music productions and laying down solid freight train DJ sets around the globe. His effortless straddling of experimental eclecticism and 4x4 beat mastery helped Bambounou to early on catch the eye of Modeselektor, whose 50Weapons released two albums and five EPs of his axiom breaking dance incantations. His last EP 'Parametr Perkusja' came out on Disk and he had this to say;
"Hey everyone, this is a mix I did in my studio in Paris, I put up some tracks that I like playing and listening to at the moment, I hope you are going to enjoy it, now i’m about to hit the gym and have a big breakfast after that cause I need the carbs (i’m already working on my summer body and its october !!! GET MOTIVATED).
If you listen carefully you will notice that I played one of my new track, Terraforming is no easy, which I did for a compilation for one of my favorite artist : Mumdance they are as well 3 other tracks from me including my remix for a very talented french artist : BLNDR.
